Are heritage brands like Sunspel and Barbour worth it if you're not wealthy?

If the quality is good yes. I bought a superdry jacket for £50 and wore it ten years. Still super cosy at the end but faded because I wore it a lot. Otoh bought one of their boots and heel came off within 3 months

I used to drive a Corsa 53 always at speed limit and people in audis and golfs used to bully me no end. As well as the range rover who refuses to give way. People don't care. It is a selfish society. Sadly we have kids driving expensive cars now too and lording it over people

I had one that was just about ok but for some reason thought that someone throwing a fellow housemates food from the freezer in an attempt to keep the drawer should be allowed to stay following a word. Amazing how they find it ok for us to live with violence and substandard living conditions like mould and dodgy neighbours but wouldn't like the same for themselves

Sorry to say I've worked on both. Shop floor are treated bad or not the same. Do something wrong on shop floor and it's instantly aggro. In offices people cover it up. Offices eat birthday cake during the day, shop floor wait till it's all finished in canteen. Good companies will have some equality. Most don't .  Also don't forget permanent shop floor staff get decent treatment compared to temps. I can remember getting sent home at 3am on a 6pm-6am shift. No advance notice for those who share rides or use public transport. How it can be justified? It's one of those things. There's politics in office workers too. My line manager forced me (her only direct report) to be supervised by the boss. She refused to come in citing COVID fears. She was lazy af. I did all her work and then some. It was that obvious people who were borderline bully-ish towards me commented on it. When I asked for a payrise after 5 years she said I had to do more like she did 🤦. Her new project was light work and still only possible because she'd shifted her work to me

Not married but didn't enjoy siblings wedding. I can tolerate crowds and kids but many people just took the PSS. We're Asian so there were pre parties week before. Kitchen full. Garage full. No one had any respect for our privacy   My parents love parties. It was a nightmare

Drivers what is the most anxiety/dread inducing thing you've seen on the road?

Posted by EmeraldJunkie@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 64 comments

Cheap_Answer5746@reddit

Massive pane on glass on back of builders truck not fastened. The moment he hit speed it flew off and shattered into a million pieces. I think you'd have struggled to put it back together. I once missed my turning and took the next one. I suddenly realised there were four arrows pointing the opposite way and 4 lanes of cars suddenly appeared so I did a quick three point  Most of the worse incidents are the fast cars driven by immature people. Drive a Corsa 53 and you'll see how bad people treat you when you're driving at the nsl

They own a flat in the cul de sac opposite my parents. They swap over for another American pair every few months. My dad's from India and he's quite welcoming. Many years ago we had two that used to come and hang out and chill. We had no intention of converting ofc. I find it sad that many of them have little exposure to other mainstream religions. Most of them have converted so surely you'd shop around to make sure it matches what's for you

Mix of reasons. And truthfully many have never had it so good. People feel important and that is a recipe for disaster when you're a small time drug dealer driving a high powered car

Sadly there is. Factories also are not that stable employment now anyway. Yes ideally do what you are happy doing regardless of status/progression/pay. Anecdotally people do entry level admin begrudgingly or nothing at all if they can't get anything else in their area. Yes some kids will waste years on PS5, to avoid being called a failure for getting any old job

It's really not. That's like police hanging round council estates because of kids that do wheelies all day. I'm ethnic and I'm not intimidated at all. I get the feeling you don't go there and had a weird encounter once and use that as an excuse

Cheap housing, cheap food, world famous curry houses, strong academic uni, easy to navigate town centre, more settled communities, fair few pubs in some areas, very proud English communities. It's got a lot less recent immigration than most places

Cheap_Answer5746@reddit

I'd get a car and move local. Bradford has many surrounding villages and it's next to places like Morley in Leeds. Personally I think it's a better city than Leeds. I know both places well and I find Leeds pretentious. Bradford has a lot of cheap food and what people often forget is the global phd academic scene and architecture. High end Bradford curry houses attract a very intellectual middle class clientele. Leeds centre I find pretentious tbh. The surrounding towns are full of students, crime, litter and people from all over the country

Still engineering for one, and the usual just go to university to see you through, for some it's anything but a factory. I think things have changed that much you can't say but those who've spent their lives in unhappy blue collar jobs tell their kids to do something else. I think that's partly why kids are so confused now. Parents tell them x,y,z is failure without providing proper alternatives and the kids don't know what to do and just won't entertain a factory job. Personally I've worked in factories I'd be happy at but couldn't get a permanent job

You see a drunk girl slumped over at a bus stop, alone, in a quiet area, at 2am. What do you do?

Enjoy the ones that are left. Don't blame immigrants I tell people. The English kids I was at school with were told blue collar, markets, mines was below them . How many kids at school now say they want to work in the local market or as a butcher or fishmonger. In some cases it's foreigners keeping these things alive in our markets
