Which 10+ year old 'normal' vehicle would you buy in a heartbeat as a daily driver if it was manufactured today?

I've had a couple awd rt magnums. Great cars especially for my area. If one pops up fairly close and for the right price I'll buy it. I would love to have an awd for a daily and start adding power to the current rwd car.

For me the dodge magnum rt. It is kinda muscle wagon so this may be considered not "normal" but I love my current 05 rt daily. I don't need it in a hellcat package (even if I really want it). Just an rt trim would be nice. I love the wagon style and it's got some creature comforts like heated seats and dual zone climate control but sometimes I find myself daydreaming about what it would be like if dodge rolled one out today.

What's the slowest car that you've had the most fun driving?

Yeah, soon as I got my 89 camaro (still not a fast car really) I racked up enough points on my license to get it suspended and I was constantly in butt pucker situations. As I've grown I've definitely gotten better at handling power and knowing my limits but it's still so fun to get in something that you can be banging gears and driving like you stole it and when you finally do go by a cop you don't even get noticed.

I've driven many slow cars and still like to keep a cheap, slow, economy car in my lineup. As much fun as it is to drive a car with real power, you hardly get to use it for more than a few seconds at a time. In high school, I had a 96 mirage and hated it. Shortly after it died, I regretted not even checking the oil for 3 years. Really was fun to just floor it everywhere. I also had a diesel rabbit late 80's I believe. Bought the car for $75. Drove it 2 hours home. (Only took an hour to get there doing the speed limit) 2 weeks later, I was jumping the railroad tracks, and the transmission fell out of it. (Snapped the bell housing around the only 3 bolts the car had left. Presumably from getting a clutch at some point.)

What happened that you had to buy a <$5k car....

Most vehicles I buy are less than 5k. Biggest reason is I'm a dreamer. I always think man I would love to have xxxxx or yyyyyy. But I don't wanna spend 10k on xxxxx or 15k on yyyyyy. So I find the cheapest, highest milage, and usually pretty clapped out version of the car. After I buy that one if I still like it I will decided if building that one or replacing with a nicer one is what I want. Most times building wins out because I've never found that unicorn built how I want it. I've owned all sorts of vehicles that I thought I really wanted and after a month or two decided that I wasn't really happy with x, y, and / or, z. So many cars that I've dreamed about owning turned out to have things I couldn't live with or really change.

What’s the shittiest car you ever owned, and why?

I've definitely owned some real shitty cars and it's hard to say what the worst was. Possibly the Volkswagen rabbit I bought sight unseen for $75. I was feeling confident when it made the hour drive home but I didn't know the bell housing was cracked. I lived out in the country and one day I hit a rough patch of road and the trans ripped its way out from under the car launching the rear of the car into the air. Maybe it was the late 80s buick lesabre that would randomly shut off while I was driving. Sometimes it would start right back up other times I had to give it some time. On one such occasion I left the car on the side of the road. Upon returning the next day it had a flat tire and some nice Samaritan came by and locked my doors for me. Problem was the keys were in the ignition. I was so tired of the car I busted a window jumped in and drove it 45 miles home. About halfway through the trip I noticed my brake pedal not feeling right so I clamped the brake line on the now mostly missing wheel and rotor and continued on. By the time I got home it was draging the rear quarter panel. Both of those cars pail in comparison to the car I hated the most. It was a 96 Mitsubishi mirage. It was TEAL. The roof was the only panel that didn't have a large dent. The tail lights housings were broke in an accident before i bought the car and the trunk was held down with bailing twine. This car was hideous and slow and not at all what a high school boy wanted. I couldn't afford a truck so this car was treated as such. I hauled hay in the truck and back seat. I went mudding with my buddy's and just hit every hole with WOT. After rolling it one day up in the hills and the roof getting dented I started to haul my four wheeler on the roof. When I finally gave up on killing that car and gave it the only oil change it had while I owned it the engine blew up on the way out of the shop. The oil change was done properly and it was still full of oil when the engine gave up. I assumed that since when I pulled the drain plug nothing came out that the new oil moved something around and locked the engine up. I've owned plenty more crappy vehicles but this post is long enough.

What's a car that a lot of enthusiasts consider boring or terrible, but you love?

Geo metro. Especially the 3 cylinder 5 speed hatch. They take so much abuse. You feel like a Nascar driver everywhere you go banging gears and foot to the floor. Still not even speeding though. We used to air up the raft and strap it to the roof full of all our camping gear and get 5 people in the car for a week of camping.

What are some uncommon cars that you see frequently in your area?

2nd gen ramchargers. They were never available in America only Mexico but I'm over 1000 miles from Mexico and there are probably 10 or more in my town.

What’s the longest and shortest period of time you have owned a car?

Longest was my 2015 hyundai elantra 5 years. Never had a reason to sell it until last year when I got an offer that I would have been stupid to turn down. Was always my beater/gas getter. Shortest was a Datsun 280z maybe 2 hours. Soon as I got home my neighbor started talking about the one he had in high school and feeling all nostalgic. Turns out my car was his old high school car. He offered nearly double what I had just paid and the deal was done. I've since been paid to replace the clutch and an engine. I've owned more vehicles for less than a month than I could possibly count and I could probably count on one hand the number of vehicles I've owned for 2+ years.

Yeah ultimately one day I'll buy one that I'm willing to cut up and make it a drag and drive car but I'll probably go ls and twins the hemi is good but it's to expensive to make big power

I've really enjoyed the couple I've had. I've got my eye on an srt that is supercharged. It's local to me but I'm leaning more towards a new bike right now and it would make things tight to do both.

2005 dodge magnum rt. Named dad wagon. I have four kids but on any given day never have to take or pick up more than three. It's a fun car with decent passing power and plenty of room for a stop by Costco if needed or to throw snowboarding gear in to head up the mountain. I do miss my awd rt but with good tires and some added weight the red does good most winter days. If it's real bad I have a truck
