Is it abnormal for a 24yo female to not have social media? Instagram, tiktok, etc.

I had Facebook and instagram for a long time after I initially just deleted twitter. I left twitter years before Elon musk so that was a blessing in disguise. I realised I was just endlessly scrolling with instagram so got rid of it and realised I didn’t speak to anyone on Facebook at all and had no enjoyment from it so just deleted everything. I’m so much happier with Reddit because everything is anonymised and nobody knows who I am.

Reddit is all I have and I don’t really view it as social media as I have nothing personal or anything on it. I’m only a year older than you, 25 and I’m so glad I don’t have any social media.

A couple of years ago a sick arsehole living not far from me killed his newborn daughter. She was 23 days old and he shook her to death. I remember going to work and seeing all the police outside the flats where he did it. He portrayed himself as a loving father all over Facebook and got a lot of sympathy. I actually knew him and was horrified for him. “The newborn, who was left in a coma with a fractured skull and several broken ribs, died in her mother's arms the following day after doctors decided Mikayla's head injuries meant "survival was unlikely. She suffered a heart attack because of the head trauma.” It wasn’t fucking murder he got, culpable homicide and 8 years. Absolutely disgusting bastard. Here’s a link to the story. https://news.sky.com/story/thomas-haining-teenage-father-admits-shaking-23-day-old-daughter-mikayla-to-death-11807169

How much do driving lessons cost where you live?

Posted by GiftOdd3120@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 113 comments

rammscot@reddit

Around £35 average an hour. I’ve done it through Red driving school so I got discount for block booking so it’s maybe around £32/£33 an hour but still not cheap. My test is less than 2 weeks away now so hopefully that’ll me never having to learn to drive again!

Spent over £2000 on driving lessons, booking extra ones to finally do it and my test is just 3 weeks away and I’m on track hopefully to pass first time. Finally hopefully going to get a driving license before I turn 26 in May!

Do you folks really care that Kate might have edited a family photo before releasing it?

I don’t give two shits either way about anything to do with the royals, especially this whole thing which is a fucking farce. She edited a picture and it blew up and that’s suddenly breaking news? Really? There’s far worse things happening it in the world than Kate editing a photo. I’m more worried about trying to afford basic necessities.

I’m 26 and my granny is 75. She is not the healthiest at all and is overweight but seems to outlive everybody or has never gotten ill. It’s a joke that she’ll outlive me and my mum who is 56.

First time I was 6 and got knocked down by a car in the street as I was crossing the road. He wasn’t speeding so I just got knocked down and scraped my whole face. The second time I was 15 and thought I could cross a crossing with my bike before a car came and it hit me right in the hip. I had an absolutely massive black and blue bruise that was agonising and it hurt to walk.

Probably people will prefer Spotify but Apple Music. I have spent thousands buying CDs or digital albums and when this came out it was a life saver cos now I just have to download whatever I want and it’s in my library and I only pay £5.99 a month for it which is absolutely nothing for all the music in the world.

It’s shocking how much I was approved for credit, considering they had to check my credit score every time. I should not have been able to take out all this credit, but there’s nothing I can do about it. Even when it’s all paid off, that’ll still be on my file for years so I’ll definitely be feeling the ramifications for years even after I’m I guess in a stable position.

Well I guess the only silver lining is I’m only 25, so still young and it’s probably better it happened now where I have no dependents etc. I’ve had to move back in with my mum as my relationship sadly broke down as a consequence and it’s painful almost having to ask her to get me stuff as basic as toiletries but in the other hand it’s nice to have someone who cares and someone to talk to and she was living on her own so she’s got company too. I’m grateful I suppose to have a mum who clearly loves me very much.

Severely untreated depression led to me making some bad choices. I kept taking out credit and selling any devices I got and kept splurging and taking out more credit. Took out a ton of credit cards too. Paid some off and I’m on anti depressants which have helped. Gonna be a rough few years money wise but the future doesn’t feel as bleak as it once did.

I’m fortunate that I have very few memories of him and I don’t remember the violence. The only real memory I have is that he was looking after me and my brother. I was 3 and I think he was 4. We were left to fend for ourselves as he was passed out drunk on the couch.

My mother open up about the full extent of the abuse she suffered from my now deceased father. I knew he was an alcoholic and beat her but I didn’t know how had it was. Beat her daily until she was black and blue and on the floor and in front of me and my brother. Threatened to kill her and that he’d gladly do time for it. Threw my infant brother out of a fast car cos he was crying for his mummy and sped off with me who was also an infant. I think the worst was finding out he raped her repeatedly and that I could have been conceived from that. My mum is a strong woman but I’ve never seen her cry so hard and she still bears the mental scars from a man who’s been dead for 18 years.

I’m Scottish. I don’t know how true this post is but there an absolute fuck Tom of English people who come here or work here or live here. It drives me nuts especially in the tourist season cos they come up here to the highlands in big fuck off camper vans and don’t have a clue how to drive on the fucking roads up here.

How many people do you know who never learned how to drive out of choice?

Posted by HorseFacedDipShit@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 126 comments

rammscot@reddit

I’m 25, just now learning to drive. A lot of factors really. Live very central in a city so just cycled everywhere. Good public transport too. Plus money is a huge cost. I only have one parent and there’s no way she could help me pay for it so only in the last year managed to get money. I never learnt because I never needed to, like a lot of people so I’m finally doing it now while I have the money to do it.
