avoid tv/movie streaming, as a lot of services use Dolby Digital Plus for multichannel audio. also avoid music streaming services like Tidal and Apple Music which use Dolby Atmos. it is not very difficult to avoid the usage of Dolby Vision purely because of how much of a clusterfuck it can be. however, a lot of TVs come with Dolby Vision licensed and supported in some way, even the super cheap ones.

Did I just brick my computer from coding??

i disagree. pop_os is great for a beginner who doesn't want to mess with nvidia drivers, mint is great if for some reason you don't like snaps, and devuan is good if you don't want systemd
