I wasn't allowed to own an AR before Truderp and still can't. He ruined it. You just need a license and not have certain criminal charges. To get a license you just have to say you'd like to go hunting or take it to a range once in a while for funzies, pass the safety test, wait 28 days then buy all the guns you want. Some types need to be registered but shotguns and most rifles do not. Seems pretty reasonable to me.
