Rottweiler out of control, knocked over my friend and owner barely apologised. What actions can I take?

I disagree with waiting to contact police. If this has happened more than once to one person chances are it's happened to other people. It's already a repeated issue. Contact the police and the dog warden so that they have a record of this dog's behaviour and more importantly the owner's handling of that behaviour. It maybe that they already have them on record and have spoken to owner. Further incidents involving the dog will result in further action. If this is the first time the dog's been reported then the owner will be spoken to and given a chance to remedy the behaviour. If no one says anything, waiting until there's a 'real' injury then everyone loses. The poor soul who suffers the 'real' injury (and what qualifies as real? Mangled face? Permanent nerve damage? Death of a child?) and the dog who'll be classified as dangerous and may be destroyed. Waiting to see is the worst option when the consequences of doing so may be catastrophic.

What is the most entitled behaviour you've seen in real life lately?

Are any of you receiving advertisements from the Israeli government?

Posted by eluthingol1919@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 101 comments

I don't think so. I'm getting those ads and I don't watch anything remotely to do with Israel/Palestine or politics in general. I just block each ad as it appears.

Why am I seeing don’t recycle at home more often?

Our local air ambulance takes crisp packets, dry pet food sacks and various other non traditional recyclables. What they do with them I'm not sure but it helps them raise money. So they do serve some purpose other than landfill.

Should I report a local dog owners XL bullies?

>If it was my dog, I'd follow the letter of the law because I'd not want to give anyone a reason to take the dog off me. This is it. If you love your pet you will do anything to mitigate risk. The risk of having them removed and the risk of them hurting others.

One person can't hold 2 labradors if they want to go forward. I've got scars on my leg from when my lab was attacked by a staffìe and he pulled me over trying to get away. It happened so quickly I couldn't react. Report her. I'm sure she'd be very sorry when her dogs attack someone but sorry doesn't unbreak the plate. Those dogs are dangerous and barely controlled.

Bitten by a dog - do I report?

Posted by Suitable_Hat5163@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 256 comments

flatfishkicker@reddit

Absolutely. The owner us aware the dog has bitten before. The owner us aware of when the dog us more likely to bite. The owner took no steps to mitigate the risk by removing themselves and the dog to a safe distance until you* passed. The owner is an arsehole and the dog needs to be checked to see if it can be retrained or will remain a threat to the public. You need to report this. If you're feeling guilty about reporting the dog because the owner told you it was a service animal (it's not) I dread to think how guilty you'd feel if the dog later ripped a kid's face off. The guilt should not be yours. The fault is not yours. Report it. * OP not the comment poster.

There is a line in Carousel where the main lady says something about a slap from someone you love feels like a kiss. WTF. No, it feels like a slap, but great job for telling all those people who are getting hit that the pain is because they don't love their abuser enough.

Ngl bit miffed that overmorrow isn't still in use. I'd have thought procrastinators would've kept it alive if no one else, though they probably put it off until overmorrow so here we are.

Is it really possible for someone to avoid paying child support by quitting their job and relying solely on income from poker and spread betting, given that these earnings might not be classified as taxable income by HMRC?

>If he's already making 5k a month on top of his job, why is he so caught up about £400 or whatever child support? Because that way he makes his ex's life more difficult. He hates her more than he loves his child. He's a vindictive deadbeat.

This is the first time I've heard beaker people referenced outside of a museum. I love them because we went on a school trip to the local museum and they had a miniature display of Beaker people and we convinced a friend that they were ancient Borrowers.

Incrementally I guess. Dipping a toe in the water of that fetish then a foot, once that becomes too tame it's up to the knees etc. Eventually he's cutting off cocks and sautéing scrotum. I watched a program about fetishism and there was a bloke on it who liked having 2lt of saline injected into his balls. I was always curious how the initial seed for that one got planted.

Parents in hospital- what did you find useful?

Posted by mattt5555@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 23 comments

flatfishkicker@reddit

Not a parent who's had a child in hospital but having been in hospital a lot as a child and adult the biggest thing is it's really really boring. Things that can fill time are great*. Things you can do together during visits are great (card games, dobble etc). Squash and nibbly bits are good too. Clean socks, wetwipes, things to make you feel fresher as you spend a lot of time in bed and can feel a bit sludgy even though you shower every day. *Books, cards, tablet (depending on the WiFi situation it's worth downloading a few things just in case rather having to rely on streaming) colouring stuff ( this is good for any age as it fills time and there are colouring books for all ages) Maybe a crafty thing if that's what they like. A small project will fill some time and give them a focus. Hugs. Hugs are always good when you're in hospital and things hurt. Good luck and a speedy recovery for your daughter.

Working out a budget only works if you have the money to budget. If you've cut things back to the bone and are still coming up short, no amount of budgeting is going to make it stretch further.

We got English Heritage because it worked out cheaper to buy membership than pay for the parking at the EH site where we walk the dog. We've seen loads of places we wouldn't have necessarily gone to if we hadn't got membership and had to pay each time. I am tempted by the National Trust.

Are entry fees for a market absurd?

Posted by Mundane-Reindeer2975@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 474 comments

flatfishkicker@reddit

It's because actual crafty stuff that's handmade costs money to make. A lot more than mass produced tutt. Handmade takes time and people rarely want to pay a fair price for that time. People I know who do yarn crafts will do small, easy to knock up items for fairs as that way they stand a chance of selling and making a little bit of money.

What do you honestly think when the "rich and famous" come on the TV asking for charity money?

Posted by Narrow-Future-1477@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 316 comments

flatfishkicker@reddit

>But I also think, charities would get more if they asked for £2/5/10 rather than straight up, help us with £30/40/50. It does seem counterproductive. It's extraordinary that the default amounts have become so much larger. I know they claim it's because costs gave gone up but that's true for everyone. Asking for that much more looks insensitive, greedy, and is really off putting, so rather than give £10, I'll give nothing.

Posted by Lam_Loons@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 587 comments

flatfishkicker@reddit

Yes, the actual assault is a matter for the police but that isn't the entirety of the situation. The employer looks like they'd rather sweep this under the carpet and move on than address the situation properly. This bit isn't a police matter, this bit would need a lawyer to address their pisspoor employment practices.
