Brewing tip: Don’t know why it works but it definitely does help to draw the tea if brewing in a cup using a tea bag. Strike the tea bag with just enough water to cover the tea bag then gently agitate the bag with a teaspoon for approximately 10 seconds or less. The tea extracts surprisingly quickly (much faster than just filling the cup and waiting) then top your cup with the remaining boiling water and add milk as / if required.

I would agree that it's a decent drink, but: >Tea is an aromatic beverage prepared by pouring hot or boiling water over cured or fresh leaves of Camellia sinensis, an evergreen shrub native to East Asia which probably originated in the borderlands of southwestern China and northern Myanmar.[3][4][5] Tea is also made, but rarely, from the leaves of Camellia taliensis. And also: >The term _*herbal tea*_ refers to drinks not made from Camellia sinensis. They are the infusions of fruit, leaves, or other plant parts, such as steeps of rosehip, chamomile, or rooibos. These may be called tisanes or herbal infusions to prevent confusion with tea made from the tea plant. (My emphasis) Source: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea

View on Reddit #30584685

YazmindaHenn@reddit

I bought some Yorkshire teabags after all the comments about how good it was. I was surprised that they weren't separate teabags, they were 2 stuck together that you had to rip apart, and about 12 of the pack already had holes in them where it seemed the actual tea bag hadn't been made right, so whole bunch I couldn't use (and a couple that I noticed once the team was being made). Disappointing, and it won't be my first choice tbh. It may be the difference in taste because of the Scottish water, but they didn't taste better than any other. I do use Tetley (which I find it weird how many folk on Reddit claim it to be rubbish), and I like Scottish blend as well

Not really. Greggs is shite. Yorkshire is both strong and aromatic. It’s a quality tea. Clippers, builders and all the others are rather strong or aromatic, but Yorkshire is the only one to consistently achieve both.

I usually have a tin of that on the go as well; I switch to it late afternoon/early evening, but Royal Blend is my default through the day. I enjoyed the Jubilee Blend - I should have stockpiled while it was available!

Loose leaf at home, and I carry bags when I go out because it's surprising how many cafés only carry Typhoo or something. Royal Blend is default through the day but my first couple of cups are Breakfast Blend and I tend to switch to Queen Anne in the evening.

Twinings Green tea with Macha currently. Pukka supreme Macha when on offer. I find the individually wrapped tea bags to be fresher when drinking more niche tea. Abandoned green tea six months later tastes like what most people think green tea tastes like. Tea bags go off pretty quickly imo.
View on Reddit #30584803

Nervous-Armadillo146@reddit

Tea in bags is extremely fine which gives it a massive surface area. Great in terms of getting it brewed quickly, but also means it oxidises quickly too (and various volatile chemicals evaporate quickly too). Black tea is fully oxidised on purpose as part of the manufacturing process, so can only go stale through evaporation, but green tea isn't supposed to be oxidised, so it will degrade in that way too. I bet if you bought something like gunpowder tea (leaves rolled into little pellets) it would last a lot longer.

I agree with the individually wrapped teabags seeming fresher.

I prefer Yorkshire or Clipper. Ultimately I'll go with whatever is available at the time when I'm shopping because at the end of the day it's just a fucking tea bag ffs sorry not sorry.
View on Reddit #30603751

TartMore9420@reddit

If we're talking black tea, then Yorkshire 100%. PG tips and Typhoo are just really bland, by the time you've squeezed any flavour out of them you've overbrewed it and it's bitter. I'm an ex-smoker which probably doesn't help. A few other brands are also fine, Lyons in Ireland is nice. If we're talking tea in general, any old green tea with mint will do me just fine. Quite partial to medicinal teas like chamomile or lemon and ginger, fruit teas, my go-to is whatever's going. If iced tea is included, then iced tea > all other tea cause it's basically just sugar and caffeine.
