What’s the most fun wedding you’ve ever been to?

I went to a wedding in a forest. All the kids and parents fucked off by 7pm then a dj with a rig turned up and played drum n bass and breakbeats until 4 in the morning and everyone got off their tits on E's. It was the best wedding I've ever been to by a country fucking Mile and the only one I've been to that i would like to do again!

What do paperboys earn these days?

Modern paperboys should be on less than old school paperboys. The new generation have no idea how much time we spent fucking around trying to fold the old style massive Sunday broadsheets into an ample enough size to fit through a tiny fucking letter box.

To be fair to them, I went in with a suspected ruptured bowel and I was having an emergency operation within 2 hours. There was however a guy sat behind me complaining that he'd been there 9 hours although I suspect his bowel wasnt about to pop😬

Twice. Once for smoking a bifta in the beer garden and the barmaid who was my ex Mrs grassed me up to the landlord. The 2nd time one of my old locals got a new landlord who took an instant dislike to me and barred me just cos he hated my face it seemed!

What age did you buy your first home? How’s it going?

The benefit of buying young if you can afford it is the good possibility that they will of paid off their mortgage by the time they are in their mid to late forties, and could probably retire a bit earlier. One of my mates who is 47, just brought the flat he's rented for the past 10 years and wont pay his mortgage off until he's in his 70's😬

One that always tickled me was a guy at out school called Andrew knowles. He was the same age as us but some lads were hanging around drinking on the local park and noticed that amongst all the old people playing lawn bowles was non other than Andrew knowles! From that day on for the rest of his school life he was called lawn bowles knowles. If only his surname didn't ( almost) rhyme with bowles he would of been free from torment 😂

Where were you on 9/11 and how did life feel in the UK immediately after?

davidoggloader@reddit

I was working on my own painting an exterior, no radio and Internet phones weren't a thing. Heard some lads talking about something to do with planes crashing on the bus home.but didn't pay too much attention to it. Then I got home and my mum had it on the telly. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was mad.

Yeah maybe not areseholes. I think they were just being sound and trying not to ruin everyone's new year's eve. If they weren't feeling so generous shall we say!

I got pulled over one new years eve with a car full of freinds who I'd picked up to take to my house for a new year's eve shin dig. I was driving the mrs car and it turns out she'd forgotten to renew her insurance. The coppers were sound and said they didn't want to ruin anyone's new year's eve and let me carry on my journey as long as the mrs got her insurance sorted first thing the next day. I was shitting myself though as if the coppers had been arseholes and decided to search the car or any of its occupants they would of found enough drugs to knock out a field of horses. They didn't and off I went into the night. Thanks Mr policeman!

NHS dentist says they can't do root canal on NHS. Only private. It'll cost around £1500-2000. Is that right?

Posted by Goldenbeardyman@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 906 comments

davidoggloader@reddit

No it doesn't. A car is a luxury. Having a big fucking gap in my mouth isn't. If i had a shit car and couldnt afford a new one then i wouldn't get one as the shit one would suffice.Id rather of not had to pay over a grand for a new tooth but I didnt want to look like Shane McGowan so I coughed up the dosh. I just think it's outrageously priced. Sorry if that upsets you somehow 🤷

Well the 2 choices were lose the tooth or pay the exorbitant price for the root canal privately. I didn't really want to pay over a grand but I also didn't really want to lose the tooth, so I coughed up the money but still felt like they had my pants down so I felt riped off. Makes fuck loads of sense

Same thing happened to me. They told me because the tooth was right at the back and the root was an odd shape they couldn't do it. Ended up having to go private and it cost over a grand. Fucking rip off

Guys in your mid 40’s, where do you buy clothes?

Yeah ,they have some decent sales on pretty regular. And if you buy something you don't like, it gets sent back for free! I've probably brought 90% of all my clobber off there over the past 5 years.

Everyone can spend their money however they please but, in your opinion, what is the biggest waste of money purchase?

I was working painting an exterior. Didn't have a radio on, and it was before mobile phones were common place, so I didn't actually hear anything about it until I got home at 5pm. I remember overhearing some people on the bus on the way home talking about planes flying into Building, but didn't pay it too much attention. Once I got home I just sat and watched the rolling news for about 6 hours. Couldn't belive what i was seeing.

I can still barely swim and I'm 44! I think it's cos I fell in a pond when I was about 4 and nearly drowned so I just fucking hate going under water. That and my swimming teacher at school was just a flat out nut case. She just used to line the kids up in a row then sparta kick us one by one into the deep end😟. When I'm on holiday I'll happily flap around In the pool but fuck going in the sea. I haven't got gills, I'm made for the land!

One of my childhood mates has turned from an absolute gent to an absolute racist qaunon followong prick. He's never really worked and still lives at home ( he's in his 40s) so pretty much mind wiped himself by spending to too long on the Internet and becoming a slave to the algorithms. Haven't seen him for about 6 years now. I used to miss hanging around with him but I'm past caring now. Shame really

Years ago my dad had a big ostrich egg which I convinced my mates girlfriend was actually a dog egg which we were looking after until it hatched. I kept it in a little basket with some hay around for weeks. She was gutted as she was really looking forward to seeing a labrador puppie pop out. I bumped into her a few years back and it was the first thing she mentioned!
