We did that already (and then divorced!) Not against doing it again but we don't live together and owning 2 properties as a married couple complicates things.

A lock doesn't have to mean anything of the kind I had a kidnapping attempt as a small child. Once I was old enough I had a lock on my door as I felt safer. If I wasn't in a studio I'd have one even though i live alone

Because that is how it works. The government guidance explains it and how the amount is reduced based on shared care.   it https://www.gov.uk/how-child-maintenance-is-worked-out You aren't giving your ex gambling money, you're paying for the recieving parent to take care of your child.  If you don't want to pay nothing is stopping you from trying to change the child custody order to be 50/50.

I went to college with twins (identical i think) and they had always shared a room growing up. They moved out to go to college but ended up back in the same room as couldn't bare to be in different rooms! Wonder about them after this post. (It didn't seem to be a codependent thing. They just really seem to want to be together most of the time)
