I did mine through the post office, took 2 weeks. Think onlines quicker but I was worried photos I took myself might be rejected or id fill in something wrong.

what is most convenient and cheap transport from Heathrow Airport to Wallington?

Was it Wallington Cars or Wallington Station Cars? I paid £106 for a round trip week before last from Wallington Cars. I've got an account with them so maybe I get a discount.

Sw-swan@reddit

I do this journey about twice a month. A pre-booked cab will be about £55, and will take just over an hour. I use Wallington Cars. App will be about £70+. Superloop will take you along Acre Lane, think the stop is outside the Duke pub. Costs £1.50 but can take 2 hours plus in traffic. Tube and overground from London Bridge is about £20 and rakes about 90 mins, lots of changes though.

Comes as a package usually, speedy boarding plus a seat in first couple of rows plus the extra hand luggage. I wouldn't bother paying to get on first.

Yeah, off the plane as soon as the door opens, leg it to passport control so you're right at the front and don't have to queue up and no luggage to wait for.

You get to bring on a little suitcase for hand luggage so I don't bother with hold luggage, and you get off faster cos you're right by the door. Saves me about an hour each side.

I've always thought CSNYs "Our House" is a really heartbreaking song about a working class bloke from Blackpool (Graham Nash) wanting to settle down with Joni Mitchell and knowing she never will.

Could you recommand UK towns near London for 5 days trip?

Its 11pm in your local and the landlord gives you a £2 coin and tells you to put 7 songs on the jukebox to empty the pub. But they have to be songs you like. Whats playing?

People who lived through the Great Storm of 1987, what was your experience?

Posted by TychaBrahe@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 435 comments

Sw-swan@reddit

The night of the storm was terrifying, we had tall trees at the end of the garden and our bedroom (me + 2 brothers) was like a little extension that stuck out the back of the house. A big plane tree fell over and just missed landing on our room. Would've probably knocked the building over and crushed us otherwise. Next day was great, school was shut, the tree had taken out about 5 garden fences in both directions, and we could run into our neighbours gardens.

Where's a good place to go on Holiday if you've never really travelled before?

Far East. It's expensive to get there but then cheap when you're there. Like £600 return flight dear. Bangkok's a good hub to start from, explore Thailand/Laos/Cambodia. Or just head to an island. My only holiday solo I went to Koh Tao and got talked into learning to scuba dive on the boat over. Spent about 10 days diving during the day then partying at night. I'm off to Vietnam later this year. Flying to Hanoi and working your way south to Ho Chi Min City by train is a good holiday, and you get enough time to spend 2 or 3 days in a few different places before flying home from HCMC. Vietnam is really cheap. Like a tenner for a basic hotel room, couple of quid a meal, 50p for a beer cheap. Sleeper trains are about £30.

Yeah so like LTNs? I've been done recently for driving through an LTN in an area I used to live in years ago. Annoying but I get the idea, the road was a rat run through the back of Brixton. My daughter's school has a ban on traffic outside during school drop off and pickup, means lots of the kids now walk in or cycle. It's quite nice.
