In 2021 there were 12 deaths involving e-scooters in the UK. 11 of them were the riders. I'm more inclined to worry about cars: 1,558 deaths in the same year

Douglas Adams, James Herbert, PG Wodehouse, Tom Sharpe. I'll keep that as short as I possibly can. Rachel Joyce for a more modern writer. Her two accompanying books The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry and The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessey are so beautifully written I have to recommend them to everyone.

Only the odd call. They thought they'd take mum up on the offer and surprise her. As far as they were concerned, they'd been invited. Excruciating.

My mum and dad made friends on holiday once. They said to the other couple "come and stay whenever you like!" They turned up one day. They actually turned up. Who does that? It was the most awkward weekend of our lives.

My grandad was Chief Yeoman of Signals on HMS Formidable. Received an MBE from HM The Queen in 1971. He left us a box containing hundreds of photographs he'd taken throughout his career, including many in Egypt of locals male and female, and the Sphinx and pyramids of Giza in 1934. Along with his many medals there were ship certificates he received after crossing the equator (several times) and a typed memoir of major landmarks in his service, such as being required to lead Lord Mountbatten to the bridge when he came aboard. He wasn't sure of the way, and in his words 'just winged it' and kept Lord Mountbatten talking so he wouldn't notice. I just knew him as grandad who grew raspberries, but it shows you what a hugely interesting life he'd led - and you tell the respect his crew had from him from the photos. It's my favourite thing in the world.

An old one, but Frankie Howerd. When my mum had me, a home birth, she was rushed to hospital after her lung collapsed during the birth. She was in a good while. She wrote to Frankie Howerd while she was in there, just to thank him for being on telly and for making her feel better, and to say how much she loved him. He must have got letters like that from fans all day long, but he wrote back a long, hand-written and touching letter about his own health and to wish her all the best, and along with the letter came a huge bunch of flowers. One of the most famous people in the country at the time, and a lovely, caring man.

Well, I mean, we can't judge. We have judges who do that. If someone's done their time, they have every right to be treated with respect. Even if we don't like it.

Everyone says this, it's alien to me. As soon as my head hits the pillow I'm asleep, and I don't wake up until the alarm goes off. I couldn't imagine that being regularly interrupted, it would drive me insane. If I do have to get up, say there's a family emergency or something, then I get back in bed and go to sleep.
