I don’t think anyone here is talking about a memory leak… more like a poorly secured app that’s pwned then used for arbitrary code execution within your network, which could propagate quickly depending on the malware

If the issue is on the LEAP side, file a support ticket with them, and do other stuff while you wait. Of management asks for an update, it’s out of your hands. Big corpos move slowly, just relax and don’t try to rush anything, makes everything way less stressful

HyperV paused-critical/checkpoint help?

Posted by Open-Water20@reddit | sysadmin | View on Reddit | 14 comments

Snowmobile2004@reddit

A good thing to know with checkpoints - when you take a checkpoint, ever write to the disk of the vm from that point forward is appended to the checkpoint and not the raw/root disk of the VM. Which is why it’s not recommended to keep checkpoints for more than a few days, writes only get written to the root disk when you consolidate the checkpoints.

What can corporate IT actually see when a browser app pushes data to Google Drive via API?

Posted by Affectionate-Belt-67@reddit | sysadmin | View on Reddit | 20 comments

Snowmobile2004@reddit

this is called shadow IT, it systems/solutions setup by someone who just wants to make their job easier but doesnt know how, you are really best off reaching out to the it department with your desired end goal and discuss with them. if you need a way to automatically store documents on cloud storage, there are other solutions than this that they can help setup.

Just wait. This whole ram thing won’t last more than a year from now, prices will be normal by this time next year. But for now, prebuilts can often be found for much cheaper than building yourself. My friend got a really good pc for $1900 the other day, costs $2600 to build yourself

Most people never actually optimize their PC — here's where I start

Snowmobile2004@reddit

If it doesn’t even show up in the FPS, background tasks competing for cpu resources shouldn’t be something to worry about or try to address/debloat. I’ve never seen a debloater fix more issues than it caused, lol.

Posted by DarkBarabbas@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 56 comments

Snowmobile2004@reddit

I wouldn’t bother. You don’t really gain much by debloating (I’d love to see someone prove they gained 5+ fps) and it has the potential of breaking apps that rely on stuff like the Microsoft store or webview2 or other things. Stuff like edge is deeply integrated into the OS and used for things like the start menu, so you can’t really remove edge like a lot of these debloaters try to do.

Snowmobile2004@reddit

I’d be incredibly surprised if there’s no disk drive. Backwards compatibility is one of Xbox’s biggest selling points, and they’d only piss off longterm fans with huge collections and blu rays by doing that. And in a $1000-$1200 console a disk drive won’t be that expensive to add

Uh oh. I’d start looking for something new for sure, but I wouldn’t leave that place until you have something new lined up. Hopefully you can hold out for a few weeks/months… maybe just drag your feet and be a bit slow with things, lol. Clearly actually getting stuff done isn’t their priority if they don’t want to pony up the resources to make it possible.

To be honest the sectigo agent is a lot more automated than setting up lets encrypt. Just install the agent and it’ll auto discover tomcat and Apache web servers and replace and renew the cert for them, no matter what folder, etc the cert is in

It’s already been fixed, hosting provider was compromised. Nation state actors controlled the update servers for a period of months until December 2nd. It’s impossible to know if you’ve been affected though, but it seems like it’s highly targeted and not every user had their updates redirected to a malicious server controlled by the attackers

Just wait for OP to reply with his link to the free AST scanner his “friend” uses, definitley not a shill /s He already posted the link multiple times in devops subreddit and his profile mentions his “resume builder” people can use.
