Where do adult non-students study/read outside of their home?

There's places where you can rent single office spaces, so you can just rent a desk in an office alongside other people. If your town isn't big enough for a uni then it might not have one, but it might be worth a look. WeWork is one option near me. It's not cheap though.

Brits who have dated Brits from the same town but a completely different local pub to one another, what was the biggest culture shock?

Fairly positive I've been to every county in England and about half of Scotland, though not for any long period of time. Some of the counties I might have only driven through but the vast majority I've spent at least a night or two in

McDonald's actually limits the amount of locations it has quite heavily. You can't have multiple within X distance of one another which varies based on foot traffic. Others like Subway don't, which is why you can walk down the road and pass like 3 or 4 of them on the street. Subway also gives better deals to newer shops so they are cheaper when they first open.

If the UK had the same relaxed gun laws as the USA do you think there would be as many shootings per capita as the USA?

Posted by Banditofbingofame@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 358 comments

Retinion@reddit

Because we have fewer of many things related to violence even when restrictions aren't as common. Things like knives are commonly available but are much lower than stabbings per capita than the US. The British people are culturally much more averse to violence, which is why we are happy to bring in strong laws to protect our population. The US as a whole is more violent, and far more happy to use and keep violence as a necessary evil so they can keep their own guns and so on. The last mass shooting in the UK prompted a nationwide campaign that was so successful it saw the largescale banning of handguns in the UK. That wasn't pushed for by politicians, but by the general public. The US has suffered mass shootings on the same scale as the Dunblane massacre not yearly, or even monthly but at this point on a *weekly* basis. Yet there's zero support for widescale banning of firearms and repealing of the 2nd Amendment. Gun sales have only increased instead.

>A very high number of gun deaths in the US are gang members shooting each other, usually over drugs but often over petty nonsense like someone disrespecting them or some other childish sleight. A high amount of crime is carried out by criminals. What astounding insight you have. That's exactly the same in every fucking country.

How are people not sick and tired of superhero movies yet?

It's more about the cause, I think it's because the average quality of product dropped rather than people being bored of superheroes.

My point is that the films were generally hits, and generally good. So people went to the films regardless. Now, if it's good, they'll still turn up but they won't turn up regardless any more. Even GOTG3 *only* made $850m, pre-Endgame that would have definitely have been a billion+

The highpoint of the superhero movies though, the good ones were enough to make you *want* to see the newest one. There's not been anything really good particularly in Marvel for a long time, with a lot of bombs. The only good superhero movies have really been Batman and Everything, Everywhere, All At Once in recent years.

Poorer people don't really have less time. They don't put in as much effort into cooking either. It's not difficult to cook a healthy meal cheaply. We've got thousands of books and tv series showing that. If parents don't want to engage with that and instead buy maccies every night then that's entirely on them.

Furthermore, it's entirely incorrect. >e was first up to the plate on the question of the deep-fried potato stick. Oh, it must rile you to learn that such a fundamental aspect of your national identity was 1) invented by the Belgians (EDIT: Or possibly the French? But certainly not the British!) and 2) popularized in the United States well before it caught on in your country. And this isn't being a giant cunt? Again, such a prick comment. > I did no such thing, but clearly someone out there thinks you are in need of professional help, and frankly I am inclined to agree with them. Then he says the guy is in need of counselling because he made fun of the guy for being a prat.
