Why would that be a bad idea? It's pro-consumer to allow their battery to be replaced with third-party batteries, even if that allows them to buy a cheap battery with uncertain safety standards. There are plenty of perfectly safe Hailong battery packs.

Upvote if you think this sub should separate itself from emotos. Legal ebike content only.

You know you're speaking in bad faith. If the anti-ebike crowd couldn't find examples of people misbehaving on a bike, they would fabricate examples. There are billions of dollars on the line if people decide to bike more and drive less.

I’ve got $7,500 for an e-bike.

The program could get four times as many bikes in people's hands with a $2000 grant, instead of pushing people like OP to waste thousands of dollars of government money on an overpriced bike. Any bike that costs $7500 brand new is going to cost a fortune to repair when the need arises.

For people who are looking into buying an e-bike, weight matters.

I don't know the exact weight of my custom ebike, but after removing the battery, it's light enough to take on the bus with me. I am deeply skeptical of any ebike with a proprietary frame that makes it too heavy to use as a regular bike, or too non-standard to repair as a regular bike.

China may effectively ban at least some Nvidia GPUs. What will Nvidia do with all those GPUs if they can't sell them in China?

The entire Sun Belt is like that. America is due for a reckoning once all of the newly-built settlements in hot/dry regions become uninhabitable due to climate change and/or aquifer depletion.

How true is the statement that "New Yorkers are the most provincial Americans?"

PyroGamer666@reddit

New Yorkers are completely justified in wanting nothing to do with the rest of the country. New York is one of a handful of cities in this country that didn't destroy their city in the pursuit of making it more car-friendly. In a country as degenerate as ours, that is an achievement.

Why are malls dying in America?

PyroGamer666@reddit

America's suburban design makes it inconvenient to go shopping at malls in many parts of the country, which made American malls vulnerable to e-commerce, much more so than malls in other parts of the world.

I use Spyder for projects that only use python, and I use VSCode when editing Jupyter notebooks or when web developing with a combination of python and frontend languages.

They're also understating how much a little optimization can speed up python code. Rewriting python functions in Cython by adding types to frequently-used variables can make them run 10-100x faster.
