All I did was comment on the fact that them being paid minimum wage for a managerial level role is disgusting 😂, oh the travesty of businesses having to increase their employees’ salaries, whatever will they do.

In the current environment, it’s not uncommon for employers to rescind offers, or worse, terminate employment within weeks or months before probation periods end. For those I’ve spoken to on this, it was too late to go back to their old employer, or finding work elsewhere was proving difficult. That’s why it’s high risk, high reward.

Buy Now Pay Laters are still playing catch up on regulatory oversight, credit reporting and the lot. They’re banking on people with less stellar credit files to stay reliant on it. A trend I’ve seen is those with an excellent credit history have had their limits reduced with BNPL firms for no apparent reason - possibly not the most desirable customer for them.

Employer has requested that my partner does not share his wage with any colleagues. Is this a significant red flag?

I don’t think this is a red flag. But it depends on your company and the office politics at play. Would everyone talking about their salaries cause any issues between you and your colleagues if you are being more than them which could jeopardise yourself? They are simply advising you not to and telling you that you can’t. It just depends how much you want to discuss salaries with your colleagues and what the end goal is of doing such. Maybe everyone will get angry that they’re being underpaid and make a show of it, maybe everyone will be convinced to unionise, whatever it is, be careful and assume no one is truly your friend and on your side at the end of the day.
