Do you think that soon, clean eating and lack of interest in clubbing and drinking will die out and it'll be cyclical?

Haha yeah. A decent cider in my towns pub was only £2.40 and a share pack of crisps was around 1.50(ish), it was class. That was when things were considered “hard” too, makes you realise how far we’ve fallen off.

They’re not uptight. I think that the cost of living doesn’t leave them with enough to justify the bloated price of alcohol, these days. People are also a lot more health conscious and would rather spend their money on items that give them enjoyment with less negative consequences.

Shit, when I used to go clubbing (2010’s) I could make a good night with £20 or £30. Everything is so expensive now. Back then, a pint was between £2.50 and £3.50 and entry to a club was a fiver.

In my experience, it’s usually the untraveled, uneducated and bitter people who say shit like this. “Go home then” is such an easy, low-hanging fruit of a response.

As far as tradespeople go, most of my financially savvy friends go off to Australia, Canada or the US because the wages are much higher for trade work and the cost of living is generally better - no accounting for the mega-cities, which dramatically increase their average.

I hate shopping with someone. My job has made my free time an absolute luxury and I hate losing time to slow walkers and indecisive people. If you’re going to a shop, approaching a bar, coffee counter etc. know what you want before you start holding people up; it’s not that difficult.

Broke people always love to get in their high-horse about new-money, as if they wouldn’t be the same cliché, if they ever came in to wealth. They stick up for old-money because they think that they would be the same as them, in terms of class; it’s such an ego trip.

I am a tradesman and I have to deal with so many dumbasses and entitled customers that I don’t even care about the work I do. Don’t get me wrong, I do good work, I just don’t give a fuck about it, after it’s done, and feel zero sense of accomplishment. I’d rather be at the gym or creating music. I used to enjoy it, when money was worth something; these days, I just feel like a slave.

We’re also making fun of ourselves when we make a shitty punny. It’s layered in with the self-deprecating humour that we are famous for; the people are laughing both at and with the comedian. In a way that’s like “I can’t believe you’re not embarrassed by how shit that joke was, but it was also quite quick and a bit funny”.

Those are not the only cities where you can get a tech job and WFH is often an option for many people in tech, but we’re not just talking about tech, are we? I was disagreeing with your comment about the Canadian job market being worse than the U.K. market. I don’t understand why you say ‘in the places where you have no jobs, the houses are cheaper’, that’s the same in any country or am I missing a point here? I’m saying that for square footage, the houses are more affordable on average in Canada than they are in the U.K.

Exactly. I used to be paid 10p above minimum wage and I worked a very high-pressure job as an assistant in an operating room. It was a very profitable private hospital and the pay was still shite.
