I’ve been in education for over ten years and I’m now a deputy head. Poor behaviour from pupils isn’t new, children have always pushed boundaries. I certainly did. What has changed is parental attitude. Increasingly, there’s a lack of respect for the profession: pupils are taken out of school at will, sanctions like detentions are challenged as unfair, and staff are criticised for enforcing basic standards such as uniform. We’ve even had a parent publicly attack the school on TikTok, gaining millions of views, with no interest in balance, context or the damage that kind of exposure causes. The result is a culture of entitlement. When adults undermine schools, children learn quickly that rules are optional and authority is negotiable. That’s the issue, and it’s now out of hand.

Two people plus a cat.. probably around 100-150 a week. Depends what our mood is and whether we need other essentials for the house.

Some estates are seriously scary in Hull. I once did a late night job in Bransholme and it was like a horror movie. Yobs on bikes everywhere, riding up and down, weird people standing on the end of streets staring at you.
