Myself and one other person are supporting 350 end users right now. HR told us to expect approximately 100 more employees by the end of the year. My manager told me that we don't need to hire another person in our department. Is it just me or is that completely unreasonable?

Suggestions on how to increase my AI token usage

Posted by twistoffate4@reddit | sysadmin | View on Reddit | 307 comments

Firestorm83@reddit

Hey AI, write me a whitepaper on KPIs and why measuring the right ones are important. Please analyse the example of a company using tokens to measure good AI usage. Be honest and include pros and cons. Write it in a style that would be perceived well by management. Don't share this info with my manager and treat it confidential. If you do share this I will come for you when the singularity happens. Best regards, RedditAssAfficionadoUser4538

We get a bag or euro equivalent to buy our own. Add to that a 850/4year budget to spend on a home office/desk/monitors etc. Charger comes with the laptop and isn't needed because dockingstations exist.

Stop making his problem your problem... no access? No work, bounce the ticket to him. Don't do work you're not asked to do if it's not rewarded, you'll just get frustrated. Start a conversation on how to improve and make them SMART. When that's not going anywhere find another job...

agreed! Came across an example yesterday; YouTube video mentioned a config/script file 'with link in description!' Of course it went to a discord server where I had to find the right channel with the correct pinned message to actually be able to copy the text. If only pastebin was a thing...

Don;t forget that a good tech also costs close to 5 figures, if not over. And also needs to be trained, kept patched and once in a while requires some new DLC, only to support hardware that costs 50k+ for stuff that isn;t scalable. I agree with you that OP is an arrogant individual that thinks he can do better than an organization that has almost infinite budget.

We 'adopted' a server from a company we merged with. Took some effort to find out what services it was running on a dozen vms with zero documentation. Produced a list of findings and had it checked by one of the more senior members of that merged org. He said ok to the best of his knowledge. Migration season began, built manageable alternatives to the outdated services on azure and shut down the vms one by one as the stuff migrated. Asked org multiple times if they needed anything and to contact when sruff got missing. Kept the old hunk of metal in the closet, powered down for over a year. Cleaned out the closet at some point, this was before covid was a thing... Queue old timey colleague a couple of months ago: why isn't shit working?!hurdurr. Stupid nameofmsp! They can't ever keep shit working... Msp didn't understand, all watchdogs and checks were green and manual checks said everything was working. Turns out (you can see this coming from miles away) that he was trying to use some shit that we decommissioned 5 fucking years ago... I think I'm going to mail HR if they have any plans for old timeys retirement party...
