How do you feel about your late 20's son/daughter still living at home?

Given the state of the world I'm fully prepared for my kids and *their* families to be living here with us, and I'm fine with that as long as everyone pulls their weight and leaves my secret cake stash alone.

You have £5 to make a meal to feed 4 people, what are you making?

Bag of carrots, bag of onions, bag of spuds, bag of some kind of pulses, loaf of cheap bread. Make soup, have enough ingredients left over to do it again tomorrow. Swap the spuds for rice or pasta for variety, and mix up the spice blend, then you can eat it for a few days running without getting bored.

So how many married people in here forget their anniversary?

We never forget it, but stopped buying gifts/properly celebrating when we had kids and couldn't get a minute to ourselves. One year all we could manage was a drive through Maccies, eaten in the car park in the pissing rain while the kids slept off their screaming meltdowns in the back. We laughed about it and now it's become our annual tradition.

I was dead skint and thoroughly miserable the entire time we lived together. Reading r/UKfinance I get the impression a lot of people are just like her and treat living together like a student flat share and not a life *together*.

I went to a very small signing with STP and when I got to the front I forgot how to talk, so I got a quizzical look and no dedication. As someone who can normally talk to *anyone* this is a core cringe memory.

It really fucking annoys me that the tons and tons and tons of pointless plastic built into the shop's supply chains is fine, but me needing a single bag to take it all home? No, you're killing the planet and you need to pay 40p. That 40p is unnoticeable on even a small shop these days, and I just nick the bag anyway because fuck them and their multi million pound profits that could go towards solving the actual problem. 25p on a *paper* bag to put the £1000 phone in? Get fucked. Paper bags aren't part of the charging for carrier bags thing, it's just another chance to rip us off at every step. I'd genuinely consider cancelling the whole sale because of it. It's not even the cost. I can afford 25p but I object to being taken for a mug and/or openly fleeced.

On a university field trip, while still early enough in the unit that I wanted to make a good impression/new friends. I lazily swung my foot at some pigeons to get them to move out the way, no ill intent, just thought it'd be fun to see them fly off en masse. One of them didn't move at all and I booted it into a wall in front of the whole class. I still wince thinking about it 20 years later.

Thankfully we're not a hot weather family, because the price of flying anywhere hot during school holidays can fuck right off. We usually drive somewhere in France for a week. If you avoid the most popular tourist spots it's dirt cheap compared to the UK and there's always tons to see and do.

My main memory of my wife giving birth to our first is having to step back to avoid the pool of blood spreading across the floor, the very calm anaesthetist quietly saying "oh dear" and literally squeezing two bags of saline drip into her, and feeling very scared and alone as I held a brand new human and watched 10 people work on her. Our GP didn't believe me when I thought I had PTSD or similar, and for a long time I was willing to get divorced rather than risk having another kid. We're all fine now but fuck me...

He could be malicious, but he could also just be a bit weird. We've got a mate who's not exactly tight, but everyone has to be 100% square to the penny or he gets uppity like OPs partner. Change beers mid sesh so the price of a round changes, under/overpay him a quid on a debt, tiny things like that visibly eat him up. We're all heartless bastards so it's been a source of constant wind-ups for 30 years.

Booze laws in Scotland really threw me when I first visited. Wandered into a Glasgow pub (a nice pub, not a boozer) with my kids to shelter from a sudden downpour and got a bollocking from the barman because their licence doesn't allow kids. Down south I only ever have to ask if the dog's allowed in.

Admittedly I do live in a low crime area, so it's not a major concern, but I have a ring doorbell (mainly just to answer the door when I'm working), a big dog that sleeps in the front window, and nothing of value worth nicking. I recall a thread a few years ago asking burglars what the biggest deterrent was, and the most popular answer was a dog. Just not worth the hassle for them.

People who let their pets sleep in their bed, is your bed not constantly dirty?

We have a dog and kids. Tidying up is a losing battle at the best of times, so the dog putting a bit of fur or the odd muddy footprint on our bed is less of a concern than a half-eaten ham sandwich under the duvet, toast crumbs fucking everywhere, or a cup of squash balanced on the pillow next to my sleeping head.
