There was a brief moment in our generation where the 1920's band style lounge emerged from the deep and created sounds like Squirrel Nut Zippers.

Who else prefers to listen to the radio rather than apps?

They are totally independent from big industry (well. SubPop has a little hand in the company but I wont slight them for that.). They do great things in supporting the local arts and music scene. All their shows have a broad spectrum of styles and generas- and even some shows where you think it will be this or that genera specific will throw a fun track or two in. I am always discovering artists new and old. I am a big fan of punk, hardcore, extreme metal and ambient noise and they legit have weekly showcases covering each of these generas. They have a really nice app for apple & android if you ever want to check it out and see what the fuss is about.

Hah! Hell yeah! I love not having to fuck around trying to figure out what to listen to when I get in the car. Just throw on KEXP and they will inevitably be playing something solid. New or old, doesn’t matter the genera just gold. I have discovered so many great artists.

I just moved into a new apartment. It has an old ass dishwasher that wasn’t draining. Got it fixed in 5 minutes not counting the youtube tutorial. I once lived in a place with a washer on the fritz- same situation. Disposal wasn’t working- fixed. These old things we grew up on are so goddamn easy to fix and re-wire. You just have to have the confidence and excitement to do it- and honestly, after you fix a few things it is so rewarding! Especially if you fail a couple times and have to troubleshoot. If you rent a place I highly recommend learning. Renters love this and will give you rent cuts for the month if you bring it to their attention then fix it.

Seriously bro, whats your bean ratio? I was in maybe 5th or 6th grade when this shit was popping off. I sucked at it but didnt care. I could heal flip down a 3 set while those kids were kicking a bag and trying to grind curbs.

Gojira- called out by the black metal community for being plants. Knocked Loose- called out by the hardcore community for being plants. Metallica - got scared of The Replacements. Called out by the metal community for being plants.

was explaining to my young coworkers that these hats were ubiquitous in the 90s and very few people were actually fans

I listen to a lot of black metal. This is an unfortunately stupid convoluted issue in the genera. The is a grey area some stand. I am of the Ace Of Base gets skipped agenda. 🚩🏴

The band was called ‘Commit Suicide’ and they where EXTREMELY racist. Ulf Ekberg was the member in question. He has done a bunch of interviews apologizing and basically says he was a stupid teenager hanging out with the wrong people and he condemns and is embarrassed about that time. Also said Ace of Base has zero association with any racist beliefs. I truly think he is incredibly sorry and regretful but it is definitely a very very very dark blotch to have on your artistic resume.

My mom still puts hers up. I will never forget there was a lightbulb in there that was 18+ years old! The thing had spots of black and brown all over it. Every year we would joke “this has to be the year it blows!”

So much 90’s in a single pic.

I need to track down a copy of Marble Madness and play it as an adult. I could never get through the second level as a kid and firmly believe the game is impossible.

Same! But I listened to something else called Love Phone with a woman host. Also had the ManCow dude instead of OG Stern. I will never forget waking up at 10 of 11 and my mom was standing there listening to what I fell asleep to. She told me she would be checking in every night to make sure I wasn’t listening to “filth.” I just played normal radio and wore headphones under my blanket with my walkman
