I lost my job - how the f do people survive on benefits?!

I'll go against the general population of this thread. Most of my estranged family have claimed benefits all of their lives and barely worked a day between them. They live a lavished lifestyle because EVERYTHING is paid for by a government grant or benefit claim. They are also claiming multiple benefits such as housing, child benefits, DLA, carers allowance and many others. They probably clear more than most working families and they don't even have to set an alarm in the morning. It's disgusting that they live a life like that and then theres people like you actually struggling but you're willing to work. I genuinely hope things get better for you OP.

I saw a bratty child around 9 - 10 years old run around a restaraunt grabbing food off peoples plate and eating it while the parents just laughed. The child grabbed some guys curry and it turns out it was a Phal curry (really fucking spicy) you can guess the rest.

What is the biggest lie that UK Redditors like to tell?

You would he well off, but it depends on the circumstances. 50k pa with no responsibilities, absolutely. 50k pa as the only working spouse and a baby, not really. My salary is good but reality and the cost of living really eats into it, oh and babies are actually really expensive!

I used to work for Safestyle many years ago. He came into the head office in Southampton to give a speech, and he was absolutely off his face on coke. Had a really bad drug problem.

Are the police in Britain actually that bad?

Posted by AirCon1064@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 741 comments

AnomalyScan@reddit

The police officers themselves are great but they have no power yhese days and are misused in the eyes of many. They haven't got enough officers to tackle a burglary but can spare officers to sit in mobile speed camera vans. I've worked alongside the police for several years and I can tell you that the sentiment is exactly the same. Most want to get out, engage with people, and tackle crime, but they get early/lates rotored into menial tasks. Again, the individuals are great, but the system of policing is a joke.

So, how do you really feel about trans people?

Posted by throwaway-slc1@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 206 comments

AnomalyScan@reddit

It's the clowns who try to make a song and dance about it and force it down your throat. How can we accept someones transition if they keep reminding you that they are trans? It dilutes their struggle and makes it appear that they transitioned just for attention. I simply don't care. As long as they are good, kind, and polite people, then it's all gravy.

What do you do if you suddenly become homeless?

Posted by Fun_Yogurtcloset1012@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 199 comments

AnomalyScan@reddit

The best advice I ever received was to buy a small caravan. I was homeless before. When I got my life bacl kn track, I got a cheap caravan for £600, I've essentially got a roof over my head if my life goes to shit. There's loads of places you can pitch one for cheap and you'll have barely any overhead costs while you find a new job and start bringing in an income.

Why is uk meat from the stores always so lean?

Posted by MajesticRate1818@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 171 comments

AnomalyScan@reddit

Most meat is sold by weight, the larger meat suppliers pump their meat with water to sell it at a higher price, watch a video on it, it's actually disgusting. Fat doesn't retain the water like lean cuts do and most people don't want fat on their cuts.

I'm not anti-vax or a conspiracy theorist but I didn't have covid until I got my jabs, rarely got ill from other things. Now I'm constantly getting sick since those jabs.

Who have you known who got off with a slap on the wrist, for something very serious?

Posted by DinOfDancing@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 642 comments

AnomalyScan@reddit

I did. I was on a work night out and some young lad decided to become a 2 can Vam Damme because I was dancing with a girl he was trying to pull. I politely asked him to leave me alone but he wouldn't listen, I even bought him drinks to try to nice him down but he just wouldn't walk away. He smashed a glass over my head and I threw a combo at him, unfortunately I didn't pull my punches so he got hurt, badly. The ambulance came and took him to hospital and luckily he was okay apart from a broken nose and eye socked. Police charges were dropped 2 months later. If I could go back and change what I did, then I would in a heartbeat. I decided to stop drinking and stopped clubbing since the whole ordeal shook me bad. I still do MMA on my time off, but it's purely for mental stimulation. I feel so much better now alcohol is out of my life and it was a close call with a hefty prison sentence.

I was in the office when my dickhead 40 year old senior manager called everyone round his work area to show us something. He proceeded to do the fortnite floss dance and we all looked at each other in complete awkwardness. He followed up with "my 6 year old said it looked cool." I was fucking reeling inside and walked out for an early lunch. It was a real-life version of David Brent and his dance skit.

Did you have lockers in your secondary school?

Posted by imcalledaids@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 405 comments

AnomalyScan@reddit

We had roughly 200 small lockers in a building for students to use. This guy put a bag of dog poo inside one of them, and the teachers had to break open every locker to find out where the poo was.
