What’s a naff/cringe pop song from your youth that you still know all the words to?

Whilst making dinner this afternoon listening to music, THAT Bryan Adams song came on and without really thinking, instinct kicked in and i found myself singing along word perfect despite not having heard the song for many years.
Have also managed to do this for Ice Ice Baby when I’ve heard it on the radio recently.

I made my Texan fiance listen to this recently. He was...baffled hahaha.

My husband sings it as 'a dance called Dave' instead of 'dancefloor date' and its now ruined it for me 😆

Oh nooo, sacrilege lol.

I was singing this in my head while counting crochet stitches earlier lmao

Pretty much anything by MeatLoaf.
There wasnt a car journey as a kid or teen without at least one song from him.
The 8.28minute long "Paradise by the Dashboard Light", "Id do anything for love but wont do that".
Should we have a honorary mention "Its all coming back to me now" for Celine Dion (1996) and Meatloaf (2005).

CarrowCanary@reddit
Vanessa Feltz played that on her Radio 2 breakfast show once, and called it Em Em Em Bop.
Chazzza23@reddit
Great song, but I have no idea what 1 word of the verses are.
It just sounds like absolute gibberish
Uniquorn527@reddit
It's very much of the Pumped Up Kicks vibe where a catchy perky tune means you don't notice it's actually a sad song about the futility of life and loss:
You have so many relationships in this life Only one or two will last You go through all the pain and strife Then you turn your back and they're gone so fast Oh yeah And they're gone so fast, yeah
Oh, so hold on the ones who really care In the end they'll be the only ones there And when you get old and start losing your hair Can you tell me who will still care?
Plant a seed, plant a flower, plant a rose You can plant any one of those Keep planting to find out which one grows It's a secret no one knows It's a secret no one knows Oh, no one knows

Uniquorn527@reddit
My friend pointed out that my husband kinda looks like the main singer (but with hair and not painted on eyebrows) and that's ruined Aqua for me because it's all I can see when I watch their old videos for my nostalgia hits.
Dr Jones had one of their best videos, maybe even better than Barbie Girl.

I still know every word of the lyrics in both songs & lip-sync every time. I especially love the music video by “Five”, even down to the way they choreographed it. For real, though; I could swear they created the “Dab” before it even got its name & glory! 😊💖🎧

Uniquorn527@reddit
I saw Darren Hayes a couple of years ago and his voice is still just as amazing. A lot of Savage Garden's songs had some big and/or high notes and he just....sang them. Perfectly. Effortlessly even. I think he's one of the most under recognised singers of that era because they only did two albums and his solo career never kicked off.
GoldenGolgis@reddit
I bet that was a great night! Yeah he's a good example of how singing isn't a career that just anyone can have a bash at. Proper talent and training there.

Me and my sister, trying to think of every long brainy word ending in -ation to make an extra bridge for A Thousand Words.

I rage whenever I hear the remix.
smedsterwho@reddit
There's such a horrible trend the last few years (it's always existed, it just seems heavier right now), or remixing a classic dance song - but not even remixing it, just grabbing the chorus chords - and then mumble rapping lyrics a 12 year old could come up with over the top.
A good remix elevates a song. These have all been fantastically tacky. Cafe Del Mar, Blue, Somebody That I used to Know*

Oh yeah its beyond awful. Someone had the audacity to do one to Whenever, Wherever. I can’t even. Is nothing sacred?!

Thunderbirds Are Go by Busted. Recently went to a birthday party with my stepkids where the birthday boy’s mum played what could best be described as “2000s-early 2010s school disco music” throughout the party, this came on and my two looked appalled that I knew all the words. I think several kids were mortified when Saturday Night by Whigfield came on and all of the mums remembered the dance to it.

The Witch Doctor was originally written in 1958 by Ross Bagdasarian while he was experimenting with a tape recorder to produce unnaturally high-pitched vocals. Bagdasarian had featured as a piano player in the Alfred Hitchcock film Rear Window (1954) before writing novelty songs, and later used the same technique from The Witch Doctor to make the first ever song for his fictional band, Alvin And The Chipmunks.
The song was so popular that it saved Liberty Records, but the modern eurodance Cartoons version wasn't recorded until 1998, from the album Toonage.
The song is frequently thought to be more recent in history than it actually is, and is even older than Monster Mash (another prominent example, from 1962).

In the club on a late night feeling right trying to spot something real nice. Looking for a little shawty i noticed so that I can take her home. She can be 18 with an attitude or 19 kinda snotty acting real rude, but as long as she a thiccy thiccy thic girl you know that it's on.
I peep something coming twards me on the dance floor, sexy and real slow, saying she was peeping and I dug the last video somewhere nelly can we go? how could i tell her no? her measurements were 36-25-34. I like the way you brush your hair and I like those stylish clothes you wear. And I like the way the light hits the ice and glare, I could see you move from way over there.
