Travel in Budapest - Affordability?

Thinking of going somewhere for a week or so, at some point in the future. I'm thinking Budapest. Also open to maybe Bucharest, Belgrade, Bratislava, Ljubiljana (Sp?). How much can you do in Budapest on a budget? Mainly I'd be wanting to visit museums, cultural / historic attractions, eating, pubs.

Out of these cities I'd say Budapest is the one that can keep you entertrained for a week, but maybe you should consider a daytrip to Bratislava or Vienna too. Inflation has been pretty crazy so the city is a lot more expensive than it was 2-3 years ago, but there are plenty of things you can do on a budget, lot of cheap bars and food places (try Retro lángos or Frici papa for example).
