I looked round the table at a family dinner and saw my wife, son and daughter were all on their phones. Can we please just put out phones down for half an hour and enjoy some quality time together, I asked.

No. Left unread (if it were an expression, which I'm not sure it is) would mean not seen a message.

To be left on read is an expression meaning you can see someone viewed your message but hasn't replied, implying they've ignored it.

Uh... no one has their own vocabulary. Maybe a few words, different styles of speaking, sure. That's basically true for everyone. Makes us unique. But your own vocabulary, where words and definitions are completely changed and lead to complete misunderstanding and no clear communication... NO.
