Knock at the door

There was a knock at the door earlier. when I answered it there was a little man standing on the step.
I said "you're not very tall are you"?
" I'm 3ft 3" " he said.
When I asked him what he wanted, he said "I'm the meter man".

I met a cat once named Yardstick. She had three feet.

We actually had a cat once, Lilly, that argued with a car. Disappeared for a week, limped home on deaths door, had to have an amputation, and lived for another eight years. Forever known as Tripod after that.

Well. 2 feet and a little something extra

What
Longjumping_Affect22@reddit
A meter (metric system) is 3.3 feet.
Stekor-Tidder@reddit
No, a metre is (but now I guess METER is an American spelling?). Although, 3.3 is just an estimate. Showing more digits, my calculator converts it as 3.28084 feet.
We could round it down to 3 feet and talk about a dwarf who grew only 3 feet. He would look pretty strange and need three shoes.

Fucking Europeans ๐
Just be glad I'm aware of the metric system.
Stekor-Tidder@reddit
I'm afraid, it's worse than that. It's just it's not just the Europeans.
Only three countries in the world use the imperial system as their official system of measurement: the U.S., Liberia and Myanmar [source: Buchholz] ๐คฃ
Electrical_Tomato_73@reddit
Here in India, metric is official but imperial is hard to dislodge in many areas. Distances are kilometres but human heights are usually feet and inches, and pilots seem to prefer to mention plane altitudes in feet. Areas are a mixture of square metres (official) and square feet (most builders and surveyors prefer that). Tiles are sold as "1 square foot", "2 square feet" etc, but they are really 30cm or 60cm tiles. Human body temperature is usually Fahrenheit but weather temperature is Celsius. And so on. It's a mess and I blame the British though they left almost 79 years ago.

The U.S. uses U.S. Customary Units, which are based on the British Imperial system from the 1800s. While the U.S. government passed the Metric Conversion Act in 1975, it made the transition voluntary.
Metric is the "preferred system for trade and commerce," but customary units remain the standard for road signs, consumer products, and the construction industry. You will still see metric units in science, medicine, and the military, as well as on nutrition labels and soda bottles (e.g., the 2-liter bottle).
. Liberia is technically an imperial-using nation, but the government has recently made public commitments to transition to the metric system to better align with its West African neighbors.
Myanmar (Burma) has historically used its own traditional units of measurement (like the viss for weight), alongside imperial units introduced during British colonial rule.
In recent years, the Myanmar has taken significant steps to adopt the metric system officially. While imperial units (like miles for distance) are still commonly seen, the country is officially in a state of transition toward metrication.
QuinceyTarrence@reddit
But who invented it? Quitters.
Stekor-Tidder@reddit
Everyone else has moved on from mediaeval measurements.
464132@reddit
Isn't it spelled meteric, like meter?

When I repost this joke, there'll be two short guys, one with a wooden leg. So the feet math works out.
Hmm.
That .3 throws a monkey wrench into my scheme though. He'll have to just have two out of five toes missing.
Dammit I don't know calculus.
Forget the whole thing.
OldBob10@reddit
I once knew a bit of calculus, both differential and integral. It damn near caused my premature departure from the world of academia, but somehow I survived it. I even used it a couple times on various jobs. Which just goes to show, eh?
