Whopper Roulette

Burger King should do a promotion where you can get a Whopper for only 1.99 only you don't know if you are getting the regular Whopper or the Impossible Whopper that's made to be either Vegan or Vegetarian.. So 2 hours after you eat it, you get an email telling you which one you had, to see if you can tell the difference between the two.

I've had the impossible whopper. I thought it was pretty good, but I do think I could tell the difference. BUT, for a $2 whopper, I'm not going to be upset either way

Impossible whopper is the biggest hack in fast food. They don't sell enough to keep them in the warmer so every time you order one you get it freshly cooked to order, rather than hours old warmed over.

I want a coffee shop to do this with alternative milks. Make sure they don't list dairy anywhere on the menu, and ask everyone for allergies beforehand. Obviously, if someone asks for cow's milk, you give it to them, but if they just ask for a latte, then it's anyone guess what they are going to get.

They could just put a sticker on the very bottom of the cup. Sure you could hold it up over your head, but I bet most people would just look when it was gone or close to gone.

Cows milk sure has a better ring than "lacteal secretions," the FDA's Standard of Identity for milk. Their 2023 guidance allows the use of the term "milk" for plant-based beverages. However, the dairy industry is doubling down yet again, and sure seems to be MAGAtizing it ... The DAIRY PRIDE Act is a bipartisan federal bill designed to force the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to enforce the definition of "milk" as "lacteal secretion... obtained by the complete milking of one or more hooved animals." If passed, it would effectively ban plant-based beverages, such as soy, almond, and oat drinks, from using dairy terms like "milk," "yogurt," or "cheese". I push my own alternative milk agenda by asking for a cow's milk latte when I get a coffee. It’s about 50/50 whether they hear caramel latte.

They had a promotion where when they first had the Impossible Whopper you could get one free with the purchase of a Whopper. I did it. I could tell they were different when eating them side by side. I could not tell what that difference was. I could not tell you which was which, despite them being different. And if either had been given to me and I was told it was a Whopper, I would not have said "no, this doesn't taste right for a Whopper." I would have no problems getting an Impossible Whopper every time, after that. Except...they cost more than a Whopper. $1 more on an already expensive burger.

So basically on a long term game (let's say 20 trials), I get an expected amount of 10 normal whoppers for myself and another 10 free meals for a vegetarian homeless at a price of $40, aka $4 per set. That is an alright game I'd say. Guess why they don't do it.

That's not how you do it. You give the taste testers three portions. Two are from the same burger. One is from a different one. They pick the one that they think tastes different. If significantly more than ⅓ choose the different one, you know the taste is not the same.

Having eaten both versions of burgers, and finding the impossible burger ok-ish, I would say everyone with tastebuds can tell the difference.

Trust me, you can tell. Once I had my wife go buy one of each and not tell me which is which. I could tell immediately and ended up throwing the impossible one away.

Pretty sure the impossible whopper isn't vegetarian to begin with. Also I tried both pattys side by side. I cannot tell the difference. They both taste like cardboard. The majority of flavor in a fast food burger comes from the sauces.

If you take off the mayo and don’t get cheese, they’re vegan. Some vegans don’t like that there is cross contamination, but that doesn’t make it not vegan, just not something they are comfortable eating. Some vegans ask that they microwave the patty instead of putting it in the broiler to avoid that.
