Which UK TV-Series wouldn’t work if they made them today?

Rewatched the first one or two recently.  I'd agree with your take really Fat fighters - I've been to WW, the basics are well portrayed, sitting in like a school assembly while the obvious is being asked and written on a Flipchart, being singled out and asked what you've lost (or gained) that week and the cult-like way you're asked to explain your success to the others and kind of expected to attribute it to the magic of WW and their products (really it's because you're being weighed every week, guided to count calories easier by dividing them by 14, and feel accountable). They're not usually into shaming (trained not to) or racism but it's funny because the leader is played as an antagonist so you're laughing at her bullying and racism, rather than with it Computer sez no is VERY true for a lot of customer service.  Only gay in the village - I'm in a gay relationship so I'll give myself a free pass to discuss gay people - it's fine, I've definitely seen gays who make it their whole personality and I don't consider it homophobic to observe that and poke a little bit of fun at it (but I suppose when single we have to set off the gaydars somehow).  The bar lady and the old lady at the newsagents being very plainly spoken about gay sex acts is funny from how unexpected it is but like a lot of Little Britain the repetition does take the edge off it.   Emily Howard - I'm a layyyydy - okay this one I find hard to stomach in the present day due to the strength of the current backlash against trans people.  I'd say it had light-hearted intentions at the time.  But it's punching down towards a group who are receiving too much abuse these days for it to really be funny. I do know the character is more a cross dresser and acting it than *actually trans* but the bigots are happy to conflate the two and use it to mock them.  The mentally impaired one who goes "eh eh ehhh" and disrupts the staff then answers the phone and turns out to be perfectly normal - hmmmm.  I struggle with that one also as mocking the noises that people with (for example) Downs make is very mean spirited and encourages that kind of stuff in the playground. But then I suppose we're meant to laugh at how outrageous it is to pretend to me mentally impaired just to torture the staff in the first place.  The disabled lad who takes advantage of his friend and gets up to do things when his back's turned - I don't have the discomfort with this as the previous one. It's kinda funny and laughing at the guy faking it / hamming it up.  Fun fact I have long, slightly curly hair and was pushing my friend who is bald and in a wheelchair and we got a drunken "eyyy it's Little Britain" comment.  We just smirked and rolled our eyes. As cheeky drunken comments go, I've heard worse.  The fake hypnotist - pretty funny, tries to get away with all sorts with it The chavvy "no but yeah but" girl - more a product of its time but I've certainly seen my share of those in the area behaving and talking pretty much like that especially in the early 2000s so I get a chuckle out of it.  The young lad who's lusting after the granny - this one skirts the line a bit sometimes (if not as badly as when Walliams is allegedly "pretending" to SA 16 year olds on stage and allegedly crossing the line past acting while using it as a cover) but usually just makes me a bit queasy.  To each their own when it's consensual but she's oblivious.  Cringe.  Whimsical countryside guy who seems to have stepped out of Wonderland and talks in riddles when people are just trying to ask what's on the menu - kinda amusing, inoffensive, but like a lot of LB it does drag and wear thin sometimes Those are at the top of my head I think the blacked-up spar lady was in a later series?   I do find it hard to look past blackface as anything other than racist sorry.  I don't feel the need to get angry about it as a white guy literally white-knighting POC, but I don't find it funny either.  Basically it depends on the sketch.  And I think it ran for as long as it needed to considering it got repetitive.
