? That's not true at all. Some religions have many equally powerful deities, some don't have any omnipotent humanoid figure.

Christianity, Islam and Judaism with their one central patriarchal god figure are all historically the same religion, and the idea was so successful that they managed to dominate much of the planet, but you still have Hinduism and its spinoffs like Buddhism, and others like Taoism, Confucianism and Shinto with many millions of followers, and thousands of smaller religions of every variety that still survive. Before the age of exploration and the colonial era, many many more than remain today.

Well, you'd have to add plenty of cultural beliefs that AREN'T religions as well. Cultures are pretty much collections of mostly lies which evolved to maintain social cohesion. And stable societies are what enabled our species to develop technologies like writing, currency etc.

I'm not a fan of religion or irrational prejudice of any kind, but I don't think we would have come to dominate the planet as we do without it.
