No, it actually happens. When I was applying for residency for medicine and for radiology, program directors get hundreds, even thousands of CVs per position and don't have the time to go through them individually. Many of them throw away large percentages of those applications for the very reason mentioned here

That's why I sent 200 resumes for every job. I'm bound to have most of them stay in the non-trash pile.
Even with half of them thrown away, half of the remaining half are still mine.

Because otherwise, if they see the same resume in more than once, most recruiters disqualify the candidate automatically
