Why is a raven like a writing desk?

Because Poe wrote on both.

Because Poe wrote on both.

CLEAN CUP! CLEAN CUP! MOVE DOWN! MOVE DOWN!
LadeeAlana@reddit (OP)
I got that, and it's the only "Alice" reference so far.
SlobZombie13@reddit
OFF WITH HIS HEAD
;)
Tyler1620@reddit
I’m disappointed that it took that long for an Alice in wonderland reference.
bje332013@reddit
What do you mean by your claim that Poe wrote on a raven?
LadeeAlana@reddit (OP)
Charles Dickens wrote on a variety of topics including social issues, poverty, and the human condition in Victorian England, often through the lens of his own experiences. Poe, on the other hand, wrote on a Raven.
bje332013@reddit
Ah, got it. The phrasing is rather strange; I'd have said that he (Poe) wrote about a raven, not on one.
WeirdLight9452@reddit
I like this, it’s intelligent and appeals to my goth little self 😂
ChaseShiny@reddit
I like these, but the most obvious solution to me is that they both collect messes.
W3BL3Y@reddit
I would say collect junk…
ChaseShiny@reddit
Right after I submitted, I thought to myself that I should've used bric-a-brac. I mean, how often do you get a chance to say bric-a-brac in a casual sentence?
W3BL3Y@reddit
I mean, at least every other day. Or is that just me?
ChaseShiny@reddit
Well then. It sounds like you have something in common with the raven, whereas I have something in common with the desk. While we might find a mess of baubles over the top, it sounds like you two would be messily over-the-top with baubles.

Naver . . . . . . .
TwilightFanFiction@reddit
This is a famous riddle from Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Carroll does not provide the answer, leading to 160 years of fun conjecture
Jojo-Action@reddit
This isn't really a joke so much as a riddle. A joke's punchline would have more comedy to it. Something like
"What does my childhood innocence have in common with Edgar Allen Poe's 13 year old cousin?
They were both fucked by Edgar Allen Poe."
Illustrious-Lead-960@reddit
They’re both hard things for you to write on.
Grandma_core@reddit
Both are inky and full of quills.
abiessu@reddit
I've been trying to work out the verbiage to say something along the lines of "both have the black" referring to ink, but I think your version works better.
tommytraddles@reddit
Both can produce a few notes, though they are very flat.
aftermarketlife420@reddit
And it is nevar put in the wrong direction.
Erycius@reddit
I once wrote a paper on penguins. I feel like paper would have worked better.
JovialRoger@reddit
Because neither can whistle
Because they both start with "r" (the phoneme)
ownersequity@reddit
Both were written on by Poe.
mouringcat@reddit
Quoteth the Raven... "Eat the stupid cookie."
AgitatedText@reddit
He used to always be rantin' and raven, but nevermore!
