The security camera system wont log me in automatically anymore!

Yesterday something happened at work that reminded me of stories on this sub.
So I work in shifts as a technician in a datacenter. Outside of office hours there is only me and some security guards on site. While IT related problems are usually not for us techs to deal with, as we have an IT department for this stuff, we technicians are often the first line of fire when an IT problem surfaces because we are always on site.
Yesterday was a national holiday, so no one on site except me and the security guards. One of the guards calls me and says his security camera system wont log him in properly anymore and shuts down immediately when login is done. I explain that I have no clue about the IT side of things, but I can at least take a look to see whats up.
It turned out that somehow he had minimized the camera system on his desktop to such an extent that once it had started up, it "disappeared"... all it took to fix his issue was to maximize the program from the task bar..
Hope you enjoyed, thougt this would be a nice story about "user experience" vs reality :)

Yeah, I enjoyed this little story of a PEBKAC issue. Thank you for sharing.

I'm sorry to say Reddit completely butchered your numbering, friend.
Horror_Role1008@reddit
Ouch!
Alkalannar@reddit
Put a space after the . in "4.Transport" to make it "4. Transport", and everything will look correct.
Geminii27@reddit
The secret is to put a backslash before the number.
With backslash:
\987. End of a giant list!
Without backslash:

Hmm?

Hmm!

That's how they keep it a secret. Those two examples probably look the same to most people.

I also lied. I said I didn't read the post because I had something else to do. I didn't.
I have read literally thousands of stories about bigfoot since about 1998. I think I have read just about everything known about them. So when I saw that huge wall of text with no paragraphs I gave up and did not read the post at all.
Learn how to use paragraphs people. It's what separates us from the animals.
drislands@reddit
I love the idea that animals are known for their run-on sentences and lack of paragraph breaks.
Also, did you perhaps means to comment that elsewhere?
Horror_Role1008@reddit
Double Ouch!!
I got this mixed up with a post on the bigfoot subredit!
I am old :(

ID-10-T? Screw loose behind the keyboard?
Environmental-Ear391@reddit
Its "L33t" Texted from a common word which in Japanese translates as "Baka"...
Being in Japan I can get away with soooo many variations on this theme even with native english.

Windows key + arrow keys toggles an active programs window position through a few default options, such as 1/2 screen. Handy for those programs minimized to oblivion or off monitor
deeseearr@reddit
And Win+Shift+Arrow will move the window to a different monitor. Can be helpful for things that have wandered off-screen or think they're too important to respond to being clicked and dragged.
Strazdas1@reddit
they are also thinking they are too important to be moved by shortcuts.
DanNeely@reddit
Much easier now. Back in the day I had to Alt-space-M so many windows on XP because my work laptop got confused moving between docking stations.
DigitalLint@reddit
Got one similar. On startup the app wasn't minimized but off screen. We could see it flash on open and was on the taskbar but was not visible. Had to force the dang thing to come to the front via the task manager.
Geminii27@reddit
Instead of via Alt-Space-M-any arrow key?
Strazdas1@reddit
Discord: you try to use windows shortcuts on me so ill set the disabled monitor as default location and wont show up ever!
Literally had to tell windows to forget a monitor exists, force EVERYTHING to reset position, then discord finally showed up.

Classic case of inadequate training in basic computer operations. I blame politicians for the sorry state of the educational system.
TinyNiceWolf@reddit
I blame voters for our sorry slates of politicians, but it's a bit of a circle.

Ah, memories, we had a monitor that never really worked ; sometimes OK sometime bad.
Changing monitors did not work, so definitely a 'system thing'. Eventually we found the power cable was creased and part worn through insulation, but as it was run under floorboards , it was discovered only by accident. After that I always checked every cable for its full length.
