Hi I’m a high school senior about to graduate and currently looking for unis. I’m south Asian wanting to pursue either bachelors in mechanical engineering or mechatronics.
The only uni I’ve looked at till now is uni of Debrecen. How is the student life there? Esp for a Muslim.

Sure it is, a solid STEM degree will be just use useful from one European accredited to university to another. Don't listen to the other commenters telling you otherwise. Debrecen is a good city, the uni is one of the best in the country, but it's more famous for medical related disciplines.
The capital is good, but expensive. I know that Miskolc uni has joint programs with Bosch and the local petrochemical industries, so that might be an option too.
Can't comment on a Muslim aspect on things, if you mean wearing traditional dresses etc, you might be sticking out a little which is not always a good thing. Doubt anyone would care much but sure you are going to be looked at. Simply because it's unusual in some places.
Is Hungary a good place to study, yes. Is it as good as Oxford, no, but cheaper with the same certificate being given at the end. Would your future employer care where you got your degree from, unlikely...

I wouldnt recommend hungary. Not because of people, but the acceptance of our university degree. Every country prefer their own unis, and hungary isnt a rich country so the poisibilities are limited in here.
But if you ve already decided you really want to major some kind of engineering in hungary then i d recommend you to do it in budapest. You will have much many connections, the job market is better in budapest then at other places.
If you are afraid because racism, i dont think thats a really thing here. I mean ofc, it is exist but probably the media exaggerate it. If you live somewhere where people have no problem with "migrants" because they can behave you will face with much less racism than in the opposite case.
Relegion is.. idk especially in debrecen. I ve seen muslims from abroad at my uni too, i had no problem with them, nether they with me, and i saw muslims in the city as well. I didnt see any racism happen because of their religion, but i have to admit ive never followed them to check what they are going through when they walk across the city.
briefly.:
I wouldnt recommend hungary, because our economics is weak, and countries prefer their own uni degree, but if you have already decide you want to learn here, then if i were you i d chose some university in budapest.

I guess there's a preference for 'own' degrees but it's not a must. I know quite a few people with Hungarian STEM degrees who work in Germany or Austria without a problem.

Thanks!! I’m not really interested in Hungary but it was just an option.

Many Muslims in Debrecen, I think it could be a university on budget. Many of my friends studied there and some of them pursued masters too. I know a Muslim girl who's still studying there. Really enjoys the city after living in a developing country.
