I don’t know which comments to trust in this sub. There seems to be a mix of people in the industry that actually know stuff vs randoms who like to confidently speculate. Can we get user flairs for airline pilots etc.?

I personally think the b-wing coming back is huge. I would love to fly one. This is as valid as anything else you read here.

It's about time, the Y-Wings are getting more clapped out by the day. Gotta replace it with SOMETHING

Hey I love the old y-wings, I would even fly a Z95 headhunter but we need a fleet of strategic bombers with s-foils, it’s about time the new republic sorts out it’s procurement issues.

I get your frustration but it wouldn’t help much.  Quite often a statement like “I love turtles” will be upvoted compared to a factually correct statement from a professional. Just learning to avoid the nonsense and not placing anything professional on just the opinions of redditors is sensible.  For the avoidance of doubt and the associated upvotes. I love turtles

How about keeping to facts? The only people who might actually know are Boeing themselves. And they sure aren't going to go around discussing it on Reddit.

if you leak military specs you maybe will get court marshaled, but if you mess with the boeing goons you will get disappeared so hard there will be no evidence left you even existed

I’d happily use an ‘Armchair Pilot’ flair if it was available

no offense but just because someone is a pilot, does not mean they are the final authority to anything aviation related. They also don't know much more than what the company or their inside people tell them, combined with their own knowledge of the industry. Perhaps they can be more believable than rando's but still it's guesswork what goes on in these companies. Some years ago I could have told you KLM would get the A350 for sure. I mean, the seat manufacturer was chosen and designs were ready. IT infrastructure also. Then the project got killed and AirFrance got them all. Would have made me look like a fool. Now KLM is getting close to having them again but knowing this company and the industry as a whole, everything can change. I can add to the 787F discussion though. There will be an A350F version so why wouldn't there be a 787F?

Why would you think an airline pilot’s opinion on Boeing’s product development pipeline is more or less valid than anyone else’s?

If by “launch” they mean beginning development for an EIS in the early 2030s then maybe it’s possible. But if a 2028 means a 787-F in UPS colors…no. You can’t go from design to certification in ~2 years under the new regulatory environment.
