I have a question about housing in your country?

I have a question for the people that live in Hungary. How much does an average house or apartment (50m2/60m2) cost in Hungary that is maintained and ready to move in. The location would be Budapest or a medium sized city. Im interested because I heard that property went up quite a bit in Hungary. I would love to know the median price in euro’s and if its in reach for the average Hungarian. Thank you very much !

Hi there! According to this website: https://koltozzbe.hu/statisztikak/budapest/ the average price for Budapest is around 200.000 euro, you can count with 2700-2750 euro per m2.

So an apartment of 40m2 is around €108.000. Not bad for a capital city to be honest. But I don’t know the wages in Hungary.
LaurestineHUN@reddit
Median wage ~850 € / month

Ah okay that isn’t that much unfortunately, but im sure the houses outside of Budapest are cheaper. Here in Amsterdam it’s impossible for us to buy as well with crazy prices for buying and renting.

Im from the Netherlands and we also have that unfortunately. Who doesn’t nowadays😅 I saw a statistic that most Hungarians own their home so that is a good thing for you guys!
Own_Glass_8949@reddit
In Netherlands you can afford rent by wage. Do not compare to hungary...
Yes, statistic by viktor orban. We are the best country in the world if you consume hungarian media (almost everything goverment like china).

Loans with low interest rate are given by the government to Hungarian married couples who agree to have 3 kids or so in ten years. That’s why they own their homes or through inheritance/help from family.

NL always was a tense market with expensive prices, society has adapted to that and the country will offer more in certain regards, to make up for the housing.
HU has had the fastest growth in prices in the EU: https://444.hu/2024/11/20/negyszer-jobban-dragulnak-a-lakasok-magyarorszagon-az-eu-atlagnal
Which is an issue in a country in which many people can't make ends meet in the first place.

And you care so much because??
Go check it out online, there are many EU statistics etc are available.
We don't owe you our time to research and write an essay on the local property market.

And this took you… what? A minute, minute and a half? AND YOU’RE NEVER GETTING IT BACK!!! 😭🤡

I was just interested and I don’t request an hour of research from you guys. On the internet I couldn’t get a clear answer.

Average rental price is around 250.000 HUF in Budapest, so \~600 €
If you want to buy its around 1.000.000 HUF/m2 , so a 60m2 apartment cost you around 60.000.000 HUF, \~145.000€.
