The way I see it is that this is a template ready made for you to submit your observations to customers. Yeah, it's not free, but someone came up with a good framework for this check that actually tells a compelling story to a customer.

why does setting up a SIEM feel like a part-time job in 2026?

We implemented JIT access for our privileged accounts. Auditor asked what the engineers actually did during those sessions. We had no answer.

Acquired 3 companies in 18 months and our identity infrastructure is completely broken

I understand and I agree. However, the hurdle seems to be from a decission making point at a high level as to which route to go and not necessarily from a technical point of view. I work at a company that has a top tier Okta team providing Ms and PS. I have seen them work on Orgs as big as 150k users coming in from multiple smaller companies making up the org. Okta can handle the IDP part just fine.

This is my work machine. Fresh start and Ram is gone. Other Windows 10 machines that we had before upgrading to 11 ran great on this spec. https://preview.redd.it/dgmsk4qryhag1.jpeg?width=4096&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9e2dd5d11422e1766c15971ca1b46df429262360

Guacamole is such a wonderful tool. Been a long time fan of it. Been using it since v 0.8. Great set of plug-ins, security options for RDP, file transfers, authorization for users.. It does a great deal of things.

CyberArk is great for what it can do for an organization. Most get to use it because their org needs to comply with some compliance or regulation and CyberArk can tick a lot of those boxes. As you said, if you have to ask, you can't afford it, however, once your org has those requirements, the money spent on CyberArk is not a concern anymore.

CPU activity is still very sporadic in the background, most of the RAM is in use. This definitely does not feel like a machine with an 13th Gen i7 and NVMe storage combo.
