You tell your manager that you don't have the bandwidth to handle all the things they're asking of you and ask them for a prioritised list in writing so that you can point to it when the director asks you why the thing at the bottom of that list isn't getting done.

I don't understand why people say this about the Financial Times. It's as neoliberal-leaning as the Guardian is left-leaning. Its whole philosophy is pro-capitalism. The fact that neoliberalism is thought of as "the political centre" and capitalism is the dominant economic system doesn't make those things neutral or make support of them unbiased. Supporting the status quo is never neutral.

Why do you think a Universal Basic Income (UBI) is sustainable?

I live in a two-up, two-down in London (border of zones 2 and 3). I bought it with a 15% deposit. My minimum mortgage payment is £2,300 per month. If you earn £50,000, that's £3,132.31 net per month, assuming you're not putting anything into your pension (and you really ought to!). That's £832 left per month for council tax, utility bills, internet, phone contract, groceries, travel, savings, any other debt, before you even get to things like eating out or buying clothes. If you needed childcare, that would cost more than the £832 on its own. I don't drive so I don't know the running costs of a car, but it certainly wouldn't help. If I was on £50k I couldn't afford to live in this (very modest) house. And a big part of the reason I'm on more than £50k and can afford it is that I work in London. Equivalent jobs elsewhere pay significantly less money. Now to be clear, I am not looking for any pity here. I *am* reasonably comfortable. I have a well-paying job that I enjoy and it pays enough that I can be in the area of London that I have lots of other ties to. My point is that, as another commenter points out, you often need to be in a high cost of living area to earn a high salary. Which means that people on £50k are not necessarily "very comfortable". When those of us who work for a living argue among ourselves about who is comfortable, who isn't, who should be paying more tax etc, the people who don't need to work for a living because of their vast wealth are rubbing their hands with glee because we're distracting ourselves from the real issue—them! If you have a net worth of a billion pounds, you can earn millions of pounds per month *passively*. These are the people who need to be "paying a massive share of the tax burden".

I've seen conflicting stuff online about whether you need organic ginger to make a ginger bug work. What's your experience? I don't think I have anywhere near me that I can find organic ginger!
