Where have my neighbours gone?

I moved to a flat a few years back. The previous couple had divorced and had a school going child. For months we kept getting letters from the school and local council, each time we reported it back to the council and even called the school. Nothing changed. Then one day a team (looked like someone from council, other from school?) showed up to our door, asking about the child. This was nearly a year after we had moved in. After that visit the letters stopped.

On the flip side, I switched to Octopus energy a while back and they are an absolute breeze to get hold off. One thing that they get right (in my experience) is that even if they can't immediately resolve a problem, they keep me up to date. Even if its just to say that they are still working on it. Makes a world of a difference that I dont need to keep chasing

I wont say it was the worst, but the first time I spent a weekend in Manchester, I was so excited...but was thoroughly disappointed. Idk if it was my expectations or what. On the flip side, spent a weekend in Glasgow and it was an absolute blast

Interestingly, ever since I got my smart watch I use my phone less. Ive only setup notifications for whatsapp and incoming calls. This way when I get a notification i can just glance at my watch and not pick my phone (most times its a msg that doesn't need instant reply). I also like the heart monitoring feature for the gym, and sleep cycle tracking.

What’s the cheapest way to move a very small amount of stuff from Leicester to London without a car?

Second this. When we moved from Luton to Newcastle, the guy even let us ride with him for free. So essentially we saved on buying train/bus tickets.

Interesting. I fall asleep relatively quickly too, but my way of doing it is to either talk in my brain or pickup one point and make a story out of it. Downside is, on occasion i wake up feeling even more tired because my brain has been noisy throughout

What are people thoughts on areas that have mosques and play very loud calls to prayer?

Muslims pray 5 times a day. These days the morning prayer happens at 6:15ish up north. If they are calling all 5 over speakers then it will become a nuisance pretty fast.

Our road gets a fair share of kids. Only one house went all out with the decor, rest of us just leave our lights on. This year we got cookies from costco (100 individual packs) and we have some left but between 5:30 and 7:30 it was a stream of knocks. Last kiddo (dressed as lurch) came at around 8pm

Moved here 10 years ago, and absolutely love it. I feel like because I studied here, instead of coming directly for a job, I was able to integrate better. Till date some of my best mates are locals. I came to Oxford and only just (2 years ago) moved to NCL. I feel like I really do belong here, and by now know all the inside jokes. So much so that I genuinely think of myself as British. Dont get me wrong, there are challenges, but what place doesn't? All in all, this is home now for me

Would you consider a property (2 bed flat) without a bath?

Posted by Dreque96@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 293 comments

I might be able to add a different perspective. Moved to UK in 2014 and till date I dont get why bathrooms in UK that are small (as op suggests) put a bath in there. Like even if I fit, the toilet will be right there on my face. I actively used to seek houses (when renting) which didn't have a bath
