Why do (some) parents think they know better than their more experienced / knowledgeable kids?

100% agree and understand this. I've learned over the years to ignore my parents' advice when it comes to careers and jobs. I spent a lot of time at university applying for internships and got a pretty good one. I'd already done another internship and I changed my path as a result of the second one. At the end of university my parents got mad at me for not having a job when I graduated. They didn't seem to understand I hadn't just sat on my backside. They pressured me to take pretty much any job offer I could get and forced me to apply to this job which I know I would have absolutely hated, which wasn't well paid or interesting. To this day they still have the mindset that any job is better than no job, which totally baffles me. They don't seem to understand that not all jobs are equal. I just saw someone else mention literally handing out CV's too. My parents have told me to do this in the past as well. What a waste of time.
