Has anyone just … walked away?

I did. I taught for 22 years and one day I just- broke. Finished the class and then told my supervisor I needed a sub for the rest of the day. Walked out of the school and never went back. Quit the job. Scariest thing I have ever done but I had given everything to teaching and had nothing left for any type of satisfying life. FF a couple of years and I can honestly say that walking out was the best thing I have ever done. I feel a part of the world again and have the emotional resources to support my family. The heavy weight on my chest is gone. Education was once a place where you could take care of kids and help them achieve, while having a mostly satisfying career. It isn’t possible to survive education now, even by twisting yourself to pieces to meet the needs of everyone but yourself. Find a new job and get out as soon as you can. You have helped others for decades, allow yourself to find something else that doesn’t destroy your soul.

Where’s everyone doing tonight?

What Was Corporate Life Like in 90s America?

In an uptight telecom company- boss would routinely bring in beer for employees to have a “happy hour” during the last hour of work on Friday’s. Corporate life was much more forgiving. No logging every minute to show “productivity.”

America’s Test Kitchen did a taste test with synthetic and real vanilla. None of the testers could tell the difference between the real and artificial flavor of vanilla. Unless you try to keep organic, fake vanilla is by far the most cost effective option.

Look into her ability and record as a politician. I want ANYONE who is strong and honest enough to will make sure the opinions of the people are heard and acted upon- race, gender, etc. mean little if the politician is bought by outside interests.
