My uncle is a millionaire, was in the army for 25 years, mostly used his money to buy property in London in the 90s and sold it all when he retired. We play golf and after the round go in the clubhouse for a roll, he brings sandwiches and sits outside and eats them. Even in the rain. My cousin was pregnant, he was going to buy a pram for £1200 but then he saw one on the side of the road and just took that😂 Theres a few more examples but those are my favourites

I just realised that you don't need to tell the truth in situations like group interviews, meetings, new job inductions, etc. Have you ever made stuff up just because?

8 hours a week is literally nothing. I’m currently getting my bachelors in Computer Science, I work 30 hours a week, I have 2 kids and only 1 is at school. I need to cram in studying in quiet times. If you can’t study while working 8 hours, whats your plans if you need to live away from home for uni? You go to school, you’ll have free periods. Study for the 4 hours each night you aren’t in work. Problem solved.

I think the problem is the overflowing bins. Not everything going into a black bag now and needs to be separated and recycled. Wind comes along a lot and the bin tips and theres rubbish everywhere

When I was like 13 (20 years ago) I had this sudden urge to wank (I was out with friends), it was completely unbearable and I had to make my excuses and walk home. When walking home it was like an itch and it needed scratched so I jumped into a bush on the way home and started having a wank. Came to my senses and stopped, went home and didn’t even finish. The urge was gone. Its never came back

What age did you buy your first home? How’s it going?

Do you smoke / vape? Would you consider yourself addicted?

Posted by Wait-Whos-Joe@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 197 comments

Scared-Guitar-6846@reddit

I had stopped smoking for 10 years. Randomly started vaping at work with everyone else (stupid I know) was vaping so much it was effecting my taste. Ended up having to buy 20 fags to come off the vape. Just had 5 one day, then 4, 3, 2, 1 and threw the last 5 out. This was last summer around August and I haven’t touched any since. They made say vaping is healthier but it’s so much more accessible therefore you do it a lot more than smoking.

I remember being about 15 in 2010 and reading my kindle on the bus, I think I even had had access to facebook and twitter at this point but it hadn’t taken the hold it currently has over me. Now I don’t even know when the last time I read a book was, I listen a lot more now

I was labouring with my cousin 14 years ago. First ever job the woman gave us biscuits and crisps and she was making a pot of soup. The smell was amazing and she gave us a bowl with 2 bacon rolls each. This was 14 years ago and still one of my favourite days at work. So I would say nothing is overkill, be kind and offer them a warm meal if you are making something they might say no or it might stay with them as a reminder of how kind people can really be

Do you have that one thing you’ve been putting off purchasing because it doesn’t seem worth the money at the time? Something you wouldn’t normally buy yourself but now you have free money to do so? Or just gift it to someone if you celebrate Christmas

These threads are so bizarre to me. Born and raised in Scotland. I always tip my barber, taxis, at bars and restaurants and probably other things that aren’t coming to mind. Probably cause I’d rather not hang around waiting for the change

I used to go to Flamingoland every year from like age 6-13 and I loved it. I loved it that much that now that I have my own kids we go with them and they love it and talk about it all the time. It’s still magical for kids. You are just getting old, my guy.

I’ve had a pizza hut once in my life. I really enjoyed it but it only stayed open a couple of months in the town I was working in and that was 10 years ago. There hasn’t been one to open back up near me since. I genuinely forget about it all the time

Not me but my dad went to college when he was 32, got qualifications he never thought he’d be able to get, stayed living the way he was while working minimum wage and retired a millionaire due to savings and investments, so it is possible

So with the Euromillions still sitting at over £200million, the question is not what would you do with it but more how much of it would you give away or donate?

I would buy my parent’s house, start investing in property and make it affordable for everyone. I’d also give people the option to buy the property from me after they’ve paid rent for say 3 years and use that as their down payment. My local community has nothing. I’d speak to smarter people than me and see how we can invest into the community and bring jobs and happier lives for everyone there. I’d then set my own kids up for life and have a nice house fully paid for with a pool and that would be me happy

Have you ever found cash? (£40+) and did you hand it in?

I used to work as a cleaner in a local mall. Long hours and bad pay. 2nd day on the job I found a wallet. It had £130 in it and I said to the guy training me and he looked at it, took the wallet and emptied split it between us (£70 to me and £60) to him. He said give the empty wallet in and not the cash because who would ever know? I’m still guilty about it 12 years later. Its always left a bad taste and I wish I’d just gave my £70 in
