Why do veteran truckers belittle automatic transmission truckers when automatic is safer than manual ?

Posted by East_Indication_7816@reddit | Truckers | View on Reddit | 178 comments

Row30@reddit

Unless the company (yes you Marten) has disabled the “manual” option in your auto-trans, you can choose a gear you want and it stays there until you change it. There’s some pretty cool features to an auto-trans, if you explore them instead of just letting it do its thing. Make it work for YOU. Me? I’ll choose a manual over an auto-trans when I can

Xans are prohibited, even with a letter from the prescribing physician. The Medical Examiner can deny usage, thus canceling your medical card, thus suspending your CDL.

Klonapin is on the DOT list of prohibited drugs. Even if you have you care provider give you a letter, it’s ultimately up to the Medical Examiner to accept or reject the letter. [FMCSA DOT Drug info](https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/faq/what-medications-disqualify-cmv-driver)

Row30@reddit

No you don’t pull over on the side of the road, you PLAN your time. You don’t drive exactly that amount of hours, you just can’t drive more than those hours. So if there is a truckstop, etc near the end if your drive shift, you park THERE. It’s all about planning your trip. If the only safe parking for your 10-hr break is 9 hrs into your drive time, then you park it. Common sense 101

Holy fuck.

The one on the right is your speedometer, with the smaller gauge showing the speed limit. The small one on the bottom is your DEF gauge, and a lot of tape. The rectangle one is your odometer, outside temp, current time, and your fuel economy. Am I close? I just woke up

If you call the local food bank they will usually take pretty much any foodstuffs. Dropping it off to them is less effort than trying to find acplace to dump it. Some food banks will send a box truck to you to pick it up.

Row30@reddit

There has been some posts on here of Driver’s explaining why they do that. They want to stay away from engine noise from neighboring trucks, possibly reefer noise from neighboring trailers. Or yes, they can just be too damn lazy. The question is why does it bother you so much?

Did you not read the other replues here? No, not even a quick “flick”. That flick happens about the time the driver (could be me) is looking in the mirror. BAM! Your new fancy high beams are like looking into a flash of a camera. If you cannot dip (briefly turn them off), then don’t do anything. WE know when we’ve cleared you enough to change lanes.
