I did not go to mine in 1994 either. No regrets about missing the dance, missed spending the last time/event with close friends though and making the memory. But my family was poor. And we lived in a middle class neighborhood with my parents barely making ends meet. As the oldest daughter, I knew financially it was a solid no-go event. Didn’t even ask. Do regret missing the fact that apparently one of the guys showed up at my house and serenaded it (neighbor asked me about 3-4 years later when I was home on college vacation, wondering who it was - neighbor was selling their house and decided to ask the question she’d wondered about for years). My dad always had the living room tv maxed and my bedroom was at the back of the house…I swear he was partially deaf even then…and I didn’t hear a thing. Neither did my mom (who was in the front-ish section of the house - tv was always that loud, it was one of dad’s ways of silently punishing everyone because no one wanted to spend time with the perpetual angry man). So, if the guy from a Houston suburb high school sees this - sorry, I didn’t know. I would have said yes, if I could have, I am sure you looked handsome in your suit. Neighbor commented you looked dapper.

Yes. I turned 49 (May 2025) & about to be 50. Found out I had breast cancer & that my uterus was trying to kill me with blood loss the day after 49th birthday. Yay. /s Ever since then I have been living by the rule…if I haven’t used it in the last year…it’s gone. Clearing out so much brain space. Not to mention house space. Feeling better about it though. Now if I am shopping…the question is *always* “is it a need or is it a want?” Even with groceries. It’s help keep too many extraneous items from entering the home.
