Would a rich girl be with an average guy in the balkans?

Posted by sushimir@reddit | AskBalkans | View on Reddit | 240 comments

Indigoscience@reddit

This girl is not for normal people like us. Sooner you realise that its better for you. My friend dated this one rich milf. She was 30-40 at that time and he was 19. She payed for EVERYTHING. Restaurants, clothes, she gave him money for gas, took him for holidays (not just Europe, but Maldives also) etc. They dated for about a year and a half then he broke up with her. The reason why I am saying this is that it is possible that a rich girl dates normal guy as long as you look good, take care of yourself etc, but the girl you are talking about is a massive no.

About to start a 4,700 km road trip through the Balkans – looking for suggestions!

Posted by Bardakans@reddit | AskBalkans | View on Reddit | 181 comments

Indigoscience@reddit

Oh man, you dropped a lot of places. But you cant add them all so I would suggest adding few: Slovenia - Soča, Tolmin, Bohinj in Slovenia (its close to Nova Gorica) - beautiful nature. Serbia - Novi Sad and Uvac then from there go toward Montenegro Montenegro - Durmitor and Ostrog then go to Dubrovnik. From Croatia to Mostar and Sarajevo then back to Croatia (Split) Slovenian coast is nice - Piran especially (but keep in mind - Italian influence so for you it may not be that wow). Marezige for wine and view. Koper for ice cream (Sladoledarna). Pro tip: for croatian highways buy enc and there you get 20% discount for tolls (paying online). Enjoy :)

Are there any idioms in your language involving other nationalities?

What's the most unique thing about your Balkan country?

Slava - every family has it and for me its the best serbian tradition. Basically every family has its own saint that you celebrate/remember that day. There are some church traditions (you take the vine and bread for blessing), the priest can come to your home and bless your home and family. You make a lot of food and drinks and you invite people over. Depending on the date and day you have normal and diet/fast (you cant eat meat or dairy products, so a lot of fish) type of slava. When the guests come to your house, they usually bring some gifts and its mandatory for them to try some wine and wheat. Then a lot of people come, you talk, laugh, hang out, eat and drink. Really fun!!! Some families celebrate it for 3 days straight (even though in urban population is mostly 1 or 2 days). You can take a day off for your Slava and most of Slavas are during the winter.

If you had to leave Europe, where would you go?

In your opinion, what is the most tragic, disastrous and/or saddest event ever in the history of your country?

Yes, but bigger problem was that he passed away unexpectedly and thus his son not being ready. I like to think that we would defeat the Ottomans if he was alive and healthy

Zagreb, Belgrade, Bucharest or Sofia for my first introduction to the Balkans?

Posted by producedbyantonoff@reddit | AskBalkans | View on Reddit | 40 comments

Indigoscience@reddit

I would recomend you visiting Zagreb and Belgrade because they are fairly close (cca 3hour ride). Both cities are big and offer a lot for everybodys taste. If you have to choose only one - Belgrade, because it has everything in it - Austro-Hungarian influence in the Zemun part and turkish influence across the river in other parts of a city. A lot of small churches, temples, museums...

Which countries of former Yugoslavia have the best landscapes ?

Posted by MoistAd6888@reddit | AskBalkans | View on Reddit | 38 comments

Indigoscience@reddit

Slovenia by far. The country has everything that you need. From flats, Alps and beautiful mountains, lakes, rivers, waterfalls and the coast. Everything is very green, a lot of trees and CLEAN. Other countries also have beautiful nature but it is not as clean as in Slovenia. Only the coast is not that beaufitul (for me) because Iam not a fan of that kind of beaches, I love sand. There are also not any islands and thats why the Croatia and Montenegro have better coast. But the best region in exYu countries for me is in Montenegro - Boka Kotorska, but overall the whole country, by far the Slovenia🇸🇮

Serbs, what are your opinions on the new national football stadium being built in surčin?

Posted by Constant-Pear-7781@reddit | AskBalkans | View on Reddit | 68 comments

Indigoscience@reddit

Yes, because its more important to have giant stadium and not invest that money in healthcare, education (which by the way helps your country grow)...

Past & Present GDP (nominal) per Capita in Balkans. What do you think about our countries' performances?

Posted by importReactfromreact@reddit | AskBalkans | View on Reddit | 44 comments

Indigoscience@reddit

Do not bother, they hate most of the Balkan. Oh snap, I atleast thought that our growth (in percentage) is bigger then theirs, because its very hard for advanced economy, like Germany, to grwo more than 2, 3 percent in comparison to not so advanced economies like we have it in Balkans... Take it easy, when you have time. Thanks for sharing this 👍🏻

Nicely done graphs! Its really nice seeing how much Balkan countries have improved their economy! Wish we all keep improving. It would be interesting to see how much we improved (in percentage) compred to other European (Poland, Germany etc...) countries in some time period (1997v2010v2024)? Would you be able to do that?🤔

I was born in Belgrade. But beside serbian ancestry, I have ancestors from Slovenia, Bosnia (Republika Srpska) and Montenegro. There were even some evidences, that my uncle colected, that I even have some Czech ancestry. So pretty much yugo mix.
