What's in them? Yes, you should replace them because wise is the worst of the worst. If you need freeze dried storage food, go with mountain house, Auguson Farms (#10 cans only), or Emergency Essentials

2 things here: He's prepping for a different shtf. You could just let him take care of all the guns and ammo so you don't have to prep any yourself. A guy with guns and ammo is better than a guy with nothing

I would put them in a cooler, like a hard plastic coleman. Then I'd wrap it in a contractor plastic bag. Then I'd wrap it in another contractor bag with the opening on the opposite side. Then I'd do that at least two more times. Then I'd dig a hole and put some water permeable weed barrier at the bottom. That ought to do it.

Emergency essentials is a good brand but I think of it more as ingredients rather than full meals. Also their meals tend to take more work to prepare than mountain house (and similar) where you just add hot water.
