How many times a year do you “call sick” at work?

So past 2 years: 2 weeks for a surgical recovery doctor recommended. Flu once - 3 days. Other than that I do have a migraine condition. Comes on randomly and if I don’t take medicine and sleep gets worse. This happens often. But it’s a 1 day leave whenever it happens. So here and there this would have happened ~10 times.

What’s an out of date view you hold?

Marriage is forever: for sickness and in health for richer for poorer to be worked on cherished and nourished. Not to be gotten into with little forethought and not to be thrown away when things get a bit hard.

Do people actually earn £50-60k, or are they outliers?

If it makes you feel any better, I have a bachelor’s, master’s and a PhD and 2 post docs and earn 46k as a University Lecturer. A decade and a half in education and that’s what the country pays. And i’m one of the lucky ones as a I could secure a permanent position 😂

Thanks. They didn't ask for bank info. But confirmed this is your account number ending so and so. Most of the info they were telling us. We just gave them the new address.

Why do you choose to rent instead of getting a mortgage?

I did buy but ran a rent vs buy calculator and made sure buying was the right option for us. For cities with insane house prices renting might be the more fiscally responsible option.

How do I stop my front gate becoming the local poo drop-off point?

We had a similar experience but in our front grass. There are 2 brown spots where we had to dig it out 😐. We are an immigrant family in a predominantly white neighbourhood. Can’t help but feel unwelcome 😔

Around 20-25k. I think we will get a width of 2.44 m after conversion. This is the plan: https://preview.redd.it/39p1qizu4rgg1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=01b71d0c9bd21f46decf8d9a1d831ea9c02739c8

The former. There will be a door from the inside. It will go something like this: https://preview.redd.it/kj0gxufc9qgg1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f9f801064cf92f3c3e1e5c0951513fcb19193070

We do have a driveway for 1 car now. We can extend it to accommodate 2. The current garage cannot take most of the medium sized cars. It’s very small may take a small hatchback. Currently it is being used for storage, boxes (we can move these to the attic/shed) and a freezer and dryer for which we don’t have space inside. Our main goal with the conversion is bringing these inside and add another toilet.

I hear you. But we would really like another bathroom (toilet+sink, no shower) inside. Plus it will solve lot of space issues. Right now our spare freezer and dryer sits in the garage with no access from inside. It’s a pain to go out for things we need especially in winter. The conversation will solve all this. We can make a dedicated space for laundry and even find a space for the freezer.
