How to Take Advantage of the Car Loan Interest Deduction in the New Tax Bill

401K is not necessarily related. It's just a strategy to lower your Adjusted Gross Income for tax purposes. Well, it's way more than that, but ... basically that's it.

I think it's almost impossible to take full advantage of this one. If you happen to pay that much in interest, you probably make way more money than the income limits. Most people would be in the 2 to 3 thousand I guess.

The automotive journalists who engaged in a financial engagement with the carmaker they were reviewing

Posted by Background_Share_195@reddit | cars | View on Reddit | 71 comments

ByteWanderer@reddit

Completely impartial car reviews are rare. For starters, journalists and content creators need access to the cars, so they have to tread lightly. What concerns me is BYD's litigious approach to independent reviews. That might work well in China, but in Western democracies, at least for now, that's not the way to go. Imagine if Stellantis started doing the same?

They cut their 2025 revenue estimate by only about 6%, but made it clear they’re not factoring in any new tariffs. Does anybody really doubt that some level of tariffs will stick around?

That is concerning, but not true for all companies. The real problem is not that. Even if you invest every penny, there's no way to make it fail proof, specially because the weakest point tends to always be the human factor. It's going to get worst, before it gets better! Freeze your credit!!!

Love Costco but honestly, the Car-Buying Program is great if you don't have the time or energy to hunt for a car deal, and if haggling isn't your thing. You'll get a decent price. But if you're up for putting in the effort, you can find way better deals on your own.

Years after the Domestic Big Three ended all sedans - good idea or bad idea?

Posted by aetiusg@reddit | cars | View on Reddit | 374 comments

ByteWanderer@reddit

The decision by the big three automakers to shift their focus was a strategic one. They were struggling to compete in the sedan market, particularly at the lower end where profit margins are thin and sales volumes in North America have been declining. So, focusing on SUVs was pretty much their only move to stay in the game!

The excitement's definitely dialed down. But hey, that doesn't mean electric vehicles (EVs) are off the table. Not at all. What's happening is things are moving at a different speed. The whole "everything will change in 2 years" vibe? Yeah, might need to stretch that to 4 years now. Things are shifting, just not as fast as we thought.
