Honestly I don't think survivorship bias is a generational thing. I would say that's observable amongst every generation. Hell, the famous example on the Internet was a mistake by WW2 era engineers.

Friend who owns a mechanic shop says he can't find any young mechanics for work and has been searching for months, a cousin who's a young mechanic says no one is hiring and can't find a job, why is there such a disconnect between employers and job-seekers?

Did we forget what Chris Brown did?

Again, what part of my suggestion controls what choices the kids make? And why is it wrong to give your kids extra info on a subject? And what if they don't ever look back in shame? What if they internalise Chris Brown's attitude and behaviour as normal and acceptable? Is a parent never supposed to warn their children that someone who seems benign is not? I appreciate you might not give a shit if your kids are being influenced by a massive piece of shit, but to my understanding some people do care about their children.

Of course, I shouldn't have said that you ban them entirely from every listening to him. Oh wait, I didn't. I just suggested informing them more clearly of what a piece of shit he is. So how is that not letting them make their own choices?

I once attended a puppy training class with my parents about 16 years ago. I was maybe 10 or so and had never in my life seen or heard this advert. At one point an old lady comes around with a biscuit tray, I asked for a Penguin, and she goes "P-p-p-p-p-p-p". I of course immediately understood that I had been rude and said "Please may I have a penguin." To which she simply replied "P-p-p-p-p-p-p". To which I could only blankly repeat "Please". And of course her sensible reply was to just say "P-p-p-p-p-p-p" again. In my memory this went on for 15 minutes or so with me looking around with begging eyes for somebody, anybody to come and assist me with this lady whose CD was apparently skipping. I'm sure it was only 30 seconds in reality. Eventually I just took the biscuit and she toddled off, but looking back I truly cannot fathom why this woman thought merely repeating a series of nonsensical noises was in some way going to communicate anything to me when I was clearly not picking up what she was trying to do. It's still lodged in my memory so vividly because of how insane it is to me how some people just automatically assume everyone else has the exact same frames of reference, and will not budge from that assumption no matter the evidence to the contrary.
