Your first R rated movie

Mine was The Exorcist. The theaters were being pretty hard-core about keeping the 17-and-under crowd out, so I got to see it with someone older as my "accompanying adult".

I have no interest in all things AI. I don’t want to learn it for work. I don’t care that it can make some things easier. I can write my own emails.

Is it just me, or do decades no longer have an identity

Posted by BecauseISaidSo888@reddit | GenX | View on Reddit | 225 comments

-animal-logic-@reddit

I think it may be due to what age you were in those decades. For me, the 70s, 80s and 90s had a distinct feel or "identity" to them. As I got older, I wasn't always on top of the latest things, or hanging on the streets with my friends. The subsequent decades become more generic to me as I continued to live as I had in the past.

Does anyone else use the term "flat" in the US to refer to a unit of a duplex, where the duplex is by floor (1 unit upstairs, 1 unit downstairs) rather than side by side?

When American sports teams move cities - do they keep their fan base in the old city?

Posted by Famous_Obligation959@reddit | AskAnAmerican | View on Reddit | 741 comments

-animal-logic-@reddit

A big factor is whether the original city got a new team anyway. Example: The Cleveland Browns moved and became the Baltimore Ravens, then Cleveland ended up having the Cleveland Browns again. Originally, Baltimore had no team because the Colts moved to Indianapolis. It's possible there are some Ravens fans that still have a little affinity for the Colts, but I really don't know.

Great observation by an old man…

Born and raised here, and calling it PA has always been the norm. Maybe because of the number of syllables in Pennsylvania, especially after you precede it with a city/town name?

Posted by cookoutenthusiast@reddit | AskAnAmerican | View on Reddit | 1163 comments

-animal-logic-@reddit

No, but when I was growing up, I lived with many families during the work week (my father was a working single parent). Most of them referred to what I now call dinner as supper. This was in central Pennsylvania in the 1970's.

I remember it well. For me it was in the 70's. When I entered basic training in the army years later, it reminded me of the school shots lines (when we had our shots, etc in the first days).
