• On April 6, 1924, four airplanes lifted off from Seattle's Sand Point Aerodrome in a quest to be the first to fly around the world. 175 days later two of the original planes landed at Sand Point, completing the first aerial circumnavigation of the globe 100 years ago today, on September 28, 1924.
