I’m seeing a lot of fishing boats with guys fishing on lake Carolyn. Anyone know what’s going on?

There are also dragon boat races too. Late summer early fall. https://www.asiantexansforjustice.org/events/annual-dfw-dragon-boat-kite-and-lantern-festival

I always thought that lake was for "decorative purposes only."

Flood control. Las Colinas would be underwater if it wasn’t for that lake. That entire area is reclaimed floodplain from the Trinity River.

Yes, it was decorative disguise serving a purpose. But not to be utilitarian for the public - I remember when that was built.

There are fish in the lake. The people on the boats are trying to take the fish out of the lake. They use poles with strings and hooks. I've always felt really bad for fish. Can you imagine going to the lake for a BBQ, you take a bite of a hot dog without noticing the hook and lure, then getting dragged into the lake? Then Bubba Beluga weighs you and throws you back out of the lake because you're too small. Brutal.

I walk around this lake basically every day that has nice of enough weather, it isn’t just boats, I constantly see people fishing along the sides of it, sometimes right next to the signs that say “No fishing”.

Right that’s why I was confused seeing the fishing boats on the lake. I know in the past they used to have fishing tournaments where people would fish off the sides or bring their boats but I haven’t heard anything about it since. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah I’ve seen one or two people when I’m doing my jogs around 530am
